taking the TEAS soon...

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hello :)

I am applying to Sumner college in Portland, OR for their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Registered Nursing. Everything is looking really good and all I need to do to be accepted now is pass the TEAS V exam. I plan on going out this week and buying some study materials, I plan to take the TEAS at the end of May. Any suggestions on how/what to study. Thanks in advance!!

Yup got it :)

Thanks for that update I hadnt heard of Lisa so im glad you got some news (great news!)

Im really looking forward to begin this program :)

Yeah I'm on full study mode. I'm thinking since they will finally have a final start date at the end of the month that we will more than likely take the teas in July. So time to hit the books.

When I called I asked why they had taken the info down and she said that since the other programs were starting soon, June 25th or something like that, they didn't want students getting confused thinking that applied to the RN program as well. She said the RN page will be up again soon after their final meeting.

Yeah i was thinking July too.

WEll thats good we dont want people getting confused. Hey do you know if the credits are transferable?

Im wondering if you decide to contiue to a bachelors in RN if you can transfer out?

It would be nice if they could add that program too...lol

I was told that they are planning on partnering up with a school to allow students to apply afterwards to continue with their bachelors if they wish. That way the credits would transfer. I also heard that providence hospital will be starting a class for their nurses who have their associates to get their bachelors. so if anything you can aim for getting a job with providence afterwards and then joining there bachelors program.

im sure when the school posts the final info they can inform us if they are still partnering up with a school for the bachelor program, or like you said, they should just do it. you never know...this program is a 2 year program, a lot can happen then, maybe they will start it up! :)

Thats good! i wonder if OHSU would be one of them??? I also looked it up at OHSU & i think you may aply for the ADNto BSN even if they aren't partnered you just have to go through their pre-req. it read something like "RNBS Students from Non-OCNE Partnered Schools" etc etc..

Providence hu?! well we know what to aim for.

I just have so many question going in & out of my brain & im glad we can discuss these things here because i know if i had waited until talking to anyone at sumner i would of lost more than half of these questions.

Its good to be hopefull and get your options out on the table just incase what we fist plan through doesnt work out.

Yes, it definetly helps having these discussions on here, its great to have met someone that will be going through the exact same things I will be going through :)

It would be AMAZING if they would partner up with OHSU, if not then we can still apply, we would just need to complete a few more pre reqs.

This is getting so exciting, and we havent even taken the TEAS yet. lol.

*****:D I get carried away with my thoughts... i still love being optimistic though. I cant help but think of positive things to come.

I hope they do in the future, It would be great for many people.

Yup yup true true... & all thanks to this forum ;)

oops i gues l m f a o was blurred ok ok i guess lol will have to do...

Haha, it was blurred. Theres nothing wrong with being optimistic, thats how I am :)

Hey, so its been some time since I had any updates so I emailed the schools president today and this is what I got back...

"We have received our approvals, but we do have to return back to the OSBN in September for final approval of our clinical rotations sites. Because of this remaining item, the college is not yet accepting applications for the program. We will know a start date for the program if the clinical sites are deemed acceptable by the board on September 24th. If they care deemed acceptable, then we will be targeting a late winter/early 2013 start date. That is all I can tell you at this time. Please check back in that week and we will be able to provide you with more information."
