I think when you apply you designate which state you're sitting for. I don't think it matters where you take the exam as long as the state provides pearsonvue the ATT.

You need to check with your state BON what requirements are required if you are foreign trained and have a license in another state. Many will still require you to meet their requirements ie CGFNS CES report etc so not saving money by going elsewhere.

CA may or may not require local license we have had members post either way ie they haven't been allowed eligibility because they haven't a local exam and others have been allowed to sit NCLEX without taking the NLE.

hello everyone...im planning to take nclex at california because they are not looking for cgfns certificate...and i heard that they give considerations if you are not a local board passer also...My question is can i take ca nclex even if Im staying here in virginia? Do i need to go to ca for the exam...and which state does not require cgfns and local licensure...
i cannot take va nclex coz they were looking for cgfns,,i cant take cgfns coz i dont have my local license from the Philippines..

If you don't have a license from the Philippines then you have to submit a letter of explanation to CA BRN. Try calling them (CA BRN) so that you will be satisfied with their answer. It's better than getting the opinions of other nurses. Once you are allowed to sit for the NCEX exam, you will be registering to PearsonVue and you will choose your place of examination. Choose the location of your convenience.

It is useless getting a CA license if you are not going to work in California.

Thank you for your suggestion..But I think I can have endorsement? because it would be expensive and time comsuming for me, if I go home to Philippines to take NLE,,then take the CGFNS and take the NCLEX...thank for your reply..

You need to check you can endorse. Honestly things are different when you are foreign trained. I took initial registration with New York and they do CVS and when I got a job in AZ and had to apply to the AZ BON I had to get CES report from CGFNS, didn't matter that i had a license in NY

If you have a CA license and try to endorse it to Virginia, then you have to meet VA BON's requirement. So you will be needing your Phil License and CGFNS-CP. Shopping for a state who doesn't require a local license is more time consuming that facing your real problem and that is to get your Phil license. Good luck.

hi janet, we have the same situation of not having license from the phil. can you up date me your next plan where is the right state to take nclex without license from our country.
