taking NCLEX RN this august 2010 in NY

Published

it's my first time to take nclex.. i need help from people who took the nclex exam this july-august 2010.. what are the usual topics that they asked when u took the exam??? what are the drugs that they usually ask??pill_bottle.png and which topic should i focus more when i review???book.pngthanx..:redbeathe:nurse::redbeathe

Can anyone give me any advice for good question sources? This will be my 2nd attempt on the nclex rn. I am using kaplan and did most of the ncsbn review. But im looking for a good up to date question bank.

Specializes in ICU, Trauma, Neuro, Informatics.

kaplan and saunders review, the thick one.. there are lots of critical thinking questions on the exam i found. know your basic drug calculation plus know how to calculate mcg/kg/min medications. I'm surpirised that there were some ICU?ER based questions on the exam. Not sure if they were experimental questions.

I just spent an hour or two each night to go over some of the books. I really studied juse 1- 1 1/2 week before. I can;t say it was eeasy as I had thought I failed when leaving after 265 questions. Just tried to utilize maslows and airway first. there were meds i never heard of before and maybe i guessed lucky, always check the last letters of the drug to give you an idea of what kind of medication they mihgt be eg. end in ol = most likely bp

hope that helps.

Hello there,

Thanks for your valuable advice for NCLEX RN examination. I am a foreign graduate planning to take NCLEX RN examination. I am having difficulty dealing with pharmacology section. It seems very difficult for me to catch up the name of medicines and their side effects, etc. Please help me to choose the best book for pharmacology to prepare for NCLEX RN examination.

Thanks

Just took the NCLEX-RN Oct. 7th, and freaked out because I graduated in May and finally sat for the nclex in Oct. I was sure that I had forgetten everything I learned in nursing school. The test cut me off somewhere between question 87-91, when I tried the pvt trick and got the "good pop up" but I wasn't going to jump for joy til I recieved my quick results, finally I recieved them today and it turns out I did not forget everything I learned because I PASSED, on my first attempt!!!! I'm super duper excited and what I can tell you is that if your test will be anything like mine, know your prioritization, antibiotics (mostly) but a few other meds as well, and communicable disease and precautions when caring for patient ie gown, glove, mask etc... droplet, airbourne etc... also i know i said it but know prioritization and delegation, an example would be "all these people were in a wreck who should you assist first" anyway good luck to all!

Prioritization and Delegation and Assignments by Lacharity, Lippincott's Alternate Format Questions, using a month access of the Kaplan review, flashcards going to work with me everyday..lol.., studying for 1-2hrs dly, positive thinking, and most important God is what helped me pass the NCLEX the second time.....thank you God...Denise RN
