Hello everyone! I am taking my NCLEX this Friday & I am so nervous! Any tips, tricks or advice that anyone wants to share! I Have used Kaplan & Saunders 6th edition for studying. (accepting prayers also!)
@myworl during the last semester of my nursing program I used the Saunders to help me study throughout that time so I retained lots of that information then & my program required us to do 1000 questions before Thanksgiving break so that helped as well. Now I do 100 questions per day online from various content areas
I used Saunders to study content during the last semester of my nursing program and we had to do 1000 questions from Saunders for Med-Surg. After graduation I tried to do 100 questions a day with the online software. I also use it to reinforce content or to brush up on areas I didn't do so well in during nursing school.
Hi RN_Dreams, I'm praying for you. You'll do great, just pray and relax. I remembered my last week. I had a Q&A Sanders NCLEX book (it's a blue book) and I would just do "analyzing"-type questions just trying to shape my mind to think the way the NCLEX lady wanted me to think. The day before, I just pampered myself. But remember, pray and Let God do the rest. :)
I took mine on January 23rd this year and passed. The main thing I did was take almost 2500 practice questions. If you know how to answer the questions, you will answer correctly 95% of the time even if you don't know what they are talking about. Always, always, always follow your priority settings (ABC's, Least invasive to most invasive, etc.). Keep your patient safe and breathing! Taking practice questions on NCLEX RN Mastery or ATI RN Mentor allows you to have rationales for each question. I learned the most from the rationales when I didn't understand the question. Even if you do all that and you go into the test thinking you will fail, you will. Be confident, go with your gut, and own it! If you read a question and the answer "pops" out to you but you still aren't sure go with that initial choice. Most times your subconscious is telling you the right answer, you just have to listen. You survived nursing school, you can and WILL pass the NCLEX! Will be praying!
