I hope it went well! I take mine on the 23rd.
Well, It went alright, I was hoping for at least a 93 and got a 91.75, very upsetting. My school only requires 4 tests: Reading Comp., Grammer, Math, and Vocab. I got 90's on everything except Reading Comprehension.. which is totally annoying because, I thought I would do the BEST on that?? I am scheduled to re-take it Monday at 8am, hopefully, I will score at least a 93!! I need that for my program. My adivce would be to study the Evolve Book inside and out! Well at least for the 4 tests I mentioned. There is similar vocab, to that in the book, but not exactly the same. The math is identical to the book.. I scored the highest on that a 98%---there is a calculater so, there is no reason Not to check your answers. I would also suggest to take your time! I think I got a little excited and at times frustrated and just picked an answer with out double checking. If you have any other questions let me know! Thanks and Good Luck!!
What State are you in?
I do have some questions about grammar, what do you mean it is different than whatever is in the study guide, can you give me some examples? (were there any lie vs lay, bad vs badly...)
Vocab words: are any from the study guide in the exam too. If not do you remember any?
Reading Comp: is the text really hard to read?, what type of text is it (description, narration, scientific, ) was it hard to find the
answer that was requested?
I am so scared:crying2: . I have mine on Tuesday.
Good lack to you.

The Grammer in the study guide goes over " Subject, predicates, clauses, Nouns, Adjectives, ETC." but it really is just choosing the correct Grammer: more similar to the actual practice test for grammer. And yes there is Bad vs. Badly I actually had that as one of my questions!! Its very much like: Pick the sentance that is used correctly: And it will have a couple of sentaces 1) using Bad 2) Badley there was also the : Me, she , herself type of questions.
The reading Comprehnesion was so much simpler than in the study guide, thats why I was really upset when I saw my score on it. I think I may have inferred to much. The passage is only 1-2 paragraphs very short-- and most all were very simple english probably a 6th grade reading level. There was no science based Reading Comprehension in mine. I think if I would have taken more time just to read the paragraph a couple times and answer the questions with out inferring to much I would have been better off.
Um as far as Vocab goes... I would say half the words were from the guide the others were kinda basic terminology like: "accurate" or "proceed". They use all vocab words in a sentence,s o if you don't know the word directly you can usually do some elimination.
What state are you in? Do you have to do thr whole HESI or just some of the exams? Good Luck, don't be too scared you got this. You will surprise yourself how much you know! Just take your time, and don't be afraid to re-read anything. I take the second test on Monday at 8 am, I will try to post after I re-take and see if I remember more. :)

They let you use a calculator? Wow!! There were no calculators allowed on the TEAS I just took, and you had about 1 minute per math problem.
Yes, They have a basic calculater built into the test. It is great! I took the NLN PAX last Novemeber, and it was similar to the TEAS where you get 1 minuter per problem and no calculater, you basically pray that you answer them correctly and in time! I remember just guessing on some them because my time was running out . HESI math I liked much better!
Noel what state are you in?
I do not have to do the science part, only like you, math, reading comp. vocab ,grammar. I do not want to be to personal, this
is not the reason I ask you in what state you are. I just hear different opinions based on the state where they took the test.
I will take it in Arizona.
I do feel better, and I will feel even better to hear that you took the test in Maricopa County/AZ.
Hey Hurly,
I took the Test in Florida, I am sorry . But I think the tests may be standarized? The Study guide is, so hopefully the exam is well!! No not too personal at all! Always interesting to see where everyone one is from and, what there tests are like! Good Luck to you My friend!
Hi Noel1221,
You mentioned that you are going to retake it today at 8am, how did it go, did you do better this time. Can you tell me some details from it if you can and remember. Words for the vocab part, grammer example that were in the test, how was reading comprehention. I apreciate it. I have my exam tomorow at 11 am.
HurrlyBaby,
Thank you for asking I did much better this time. Well, I got an overall 93.33!! I got a 91 on Reading Comp. and 92's in Grammer and Vocab, and again a 98 in math! I would definetly tell you to take your time. During reading Comp. ask yourself ... Is this answer, what the question is asking? I went back and re-read a couple of times the reading!
Ok, So the test yesterday was identical (well pretty much) to the one I took last Tuesday! They asked 2 questions on Roman Numerals--Simple number though, like 19 and 17. Also on the Math there is a couple questions that are like: Which fraction is the largest? Then it will give : 1/2, 1/22, 1/222, 1/2222--pretty easy of course it's the smallest Fraction (1/2). Also, there was about 2 question on Military time. There is a lot of Conversion from oz to Gallons, oz to Pints, oz to 2 and a half galllons.. problems like that. Also know that 2.2 lbs are in a Kilogram.
On the vocab there is alot of words, I wasn't 100% familar, but after reading them in the Sentance I went with the best guess there. Sorry not much help here, if you studied most of the vocab from the study guide you should be ok.
In Grammer, There was a lot of There vs. Their, Who's vs. Whom or Whose, and Form vs. From--make sure to re-read the sentance sometimes, you will overlook "Form" when it's suppose to be "From".
Um,
Reading Comp. This time around, I read them Slowly and focused on each Paragraph. Most of the question are: *Which one of these is Stated in the Passage?
*From the article, you can tell the author is in favor of?
*Which statement summarizes the author's point?
* In the sencond paragraph, what does the word : root mean?
The questions are very much like these, and I would read the question and try to find supporting details from the reading to help me answer.
Well,
Good luck to you, today my friend, I am sure you will do fantastic, just remember to breathe and stretch every once and a while! And take your time!
Good Luck!!! Let me know how you did!!
