Taking coreqs prior to nursing program

Published

I’m debating if I should take all the corequisites prior to ADN nursing program so that I only have to take nursing lectures and clinicals during nursing school.
I work as an ER tech (24-32hrs a week) and would like to maintain my employment while in school, so I thought it might be a good idea to get all the coreqs done to alleviate the workload on school.  I just finished A&P1 and it was so hard and can’t imagine taking A&P2 and Microbiology along with nursing classes.

If they let you take those "corequisites" of your preferred school without being accepted into their program, go ahead and take them. Who can stop you?

Have you spoken with the advisor for the nursing program? The ADN program I went to took that into account when accepting applicants. All but one student in my class had most, if not all, of the non-nursing courses completed prior to admission to the program. It will definitely be less to worry about, especially if you plan to work as well.
