Hello,
I've just been wondering how it would be like if I was to take a break from nursing and move to another country for a bit. I know that the College of Nurses in Ontario have a policy requiring me to report every year, but would there be any consequences? Would it seem like I'm not capable of practicing nursing after a few months (4-6)?
Thanks in advance.

I think you cam keep your license as long as you pay the renewal every year.I think they have a category for inactive license for nurses who aren't working.I don't think a 4-6 month break would affect your license.

I know that CLPNA requires us to work a certain number of hours over a three year period to remain "active". Failure to meet the required hours results in the need to take the re-entry to practice course.
I'm sure Ontario's College has a similar requirement
Thanks a lot. I got a little skeptical about taking a break after reading another thread that talked about taking a break in the U.S. I now know what I can and cannot do.
The best place to get an answer would be from the CNO themselves.

Lots of people take years off.
Mat leave is one year, so taking a year off is no big deal.
There isn't a minimum of nursing hours needed for renewal in Ontario.
