I am taking basic algebra on campus this semester and need to take intermediate algebra next semester. I see it is offered at my school as an online class.
Has anyone taken algebra online before? How was your experience?

i personally like taking courses online so if given the chance i would. I have taken algebra and stats online and loved it. But it all depends on how well you manage your time and how well you do with distance education. good luck to you.

I loved taking online courses for most of the basic/pre courses (including basic college mathematics) and I was fine...very convenient! Take into account how well you are in this subject, your time management skills, and how well you can teach/refresh yourself on equations! Good luck! :)

i took it 3 yrs ago....ended up with a B+.....i had to get one of those high tech graphing calculators...with an USB cord so we could send graphs to the instructor...that was the hardes part...learning to use that beast!!...otherwise it wasnt bad at all....had lots of resources for help as well....

I hated mine, and failed miserably. I will never take math again on-line.

Depends on what kind of learner you are and how good you are at math. Personally speaking, I tend to do better in online/correspondence courses if they are English, Psycology, Sociology, etc. (the "Arts" courses), whereas I do worse in sciences and math. I am average in math and I did HORRIBLE in distance ed math courses. I just learn better in an actual classroom setting, watching the instructor work out math problems on the board. If you're in doubt about learning online, don't do it! You don't want to repeat the same course (and pay again).

I took College Algebra in an online 8-week course last year. That thing was hard! I worked by tail off and ended up with a B. I know I would have done better had I been in a classroom with a teacher explaining everything and moving slower. That calculator was very hard to learn how to use without a teacher right there face to face. I had to use all kinds of other resources (google, school math lab, my brother who teaches math, etc) to get through it. I don't want to discourage you, and like I said, I made a B, but I don't struggle in math and it was tough. But I also always shoot for A's and just couldn't do it in that class and I know it is because it was online. Just my 2 cents.
