Take job for less money but more potential happiness?

Published

I am currently at a job in which I dread going to. There is very little organization, sometimes I have to work alone, and I am it gets lonely as it is in a very rural area.  But I make a pretty good salary.
I have been offered a job at a teaching hospital.  I would never have to work as both nurse/lab tech/receptionist/NP, and there is a greater potential to find more people my own age there.  BUT, the pay is $3500 a year less.

What would you guys do?

All the best!  I have always followed experience over money.

Specializes in Nurse.

I'll take it in a heart beat!

$3500 isn't that much less when considering an NP salary...and especially when you factor in your overall happiness.

It's kind of a no brainer.

Specializes in PACU.

Take the job where you’re happy. $3500 a year is not worth the hassle or the unhappiness. Just remember that there is no such thing as a perfect job and whatever pastor is greener is going to have crabgrass eventually
