Hi... I was just accepted into the TCC Nursing Program. Does anyone out there have any advice or information to offer? I'd appreciate hearing about the program, instructors, clinicals, etc. Thanks! Oh, one more thing... if you are aware of any specific information that would be beneficial to review prior to starting, please let me know.
FYI...I went to an info session today...(I know what kind of nerd goes to an info session after they finish all the prereq's):icon_roll and I would not be surprised if we do not find out who is in the program until next week. It does not look promising to find out today...or even tomorrow. I am just going to tell myself that I will not find out until next friday. Also...for inquiring minds, there are a total of 168 applicants...which is not too bad!! That means that there will be 120 rejects. Also...they will inform the people that made it first, then they will send out reject letters letting people know what the lowest accepted GPA is, and what your GPA is. They will start working on who is accepted for winter quarter as soon as they get the other emails out. It should be much less of a lengthy process as they would have already rifled through every application. Anyhow...that is the best info I received at the meeting. Just thought I would pass what little info I had along! Good Luck all!:w00t:
Wow, I think they are trying to kill us. I don't know if I can survive the anxiety! LOL I can't believe it takes them over a month to calculate GPA's anyway. Give me a break! Well, I guess I'll try to calm down for at least the rest of this week since they aren't going to send out the e-mails like they promised. I can't make any promises come Monday morning though. I'll probably be all stressed out again! :chuckle
I don't think your information is correct about the lowest GPA being a 3.6 last year It is my understanding that the lowest GPA that got into the full-time nursing program last fall was a 3.944! They did take some lower GPA's into the Bates program, but I don't think that TCC is working with Bates anymore (at least not this coming quarter). So I am very nervous because my GPA is 3.91 and I don't think I'm going to make it into fall
The fact that they are using July applications for Winter quarter gives me hope though, because I wouldn't mind getting in Winter.
I'm pretty sure the lowest GPA that got into the full time program this last spring was a 3.84. It seems like maybe less people apply during spring because the year before last had a lower GPA for spring also. They also accept people into the part-time nursing program in spring though, so they take an even lower GPA for that. I don't remember what it was last year, but I'm thinking it might have been as low as 3.6 for that. I have no idea if TCC will be participating with Bates again in the spring or not.
You have to take this all with a grain of salt because I could be wrong. I had several sources though, so I'm pretty sure it's close to accurate.
I have a stress headache waiting for our results LOL I will be seriously surprised if we find anything out tomorrow, since the campus is closed on Fridays. We'll be lucky if we find out before Wednesday is my guess
All I know is that they better sent out the e-mails by Thursday because I am NOT going to wait another weekend. I'll drive down there and kick some butt if I have to (OK, not really, but I will want to).
