switching the state you applied for a license in? can I?

I live in SC and I take my RN boards on Jan 23. I am moving to vermont as soon as I secure a position there. I initially applied for a SC license and plan to apply for a VT license by endorsement (sc is a compact state and VT isnt). I didn't apply to VT first because I wanted to play it safe and have an initial license in my home state so if worse came to worse I could work here and live for free with my family until I got a job in VT PLUS my school hand delivers our endorsement forms to the BON after we graduate so they don't get lost (theyve had issues before) and having dealt with my school and BONs before, I simply didn't trust them to get my endorsement form to VT BON had I chosen to initially apply for a llicense there.

Since my application for a SC license isn't complete til I pass my boards, is it too late or even possible to change my state to vt? If not, how long does it usually take to process a license by endorsement 5 another state? I've applied to Two residency programs in VT and am hoping that by the time I potentially interview or accept a position I will have my license in VT processed. Also, both SC and VT use nursys license verification and I've heard that helps with the speed and easiness of transferring your license to another state.

I also applied and interviewed already for a residency program in SC so I have options but I'd just very anxious to get my license in VT to work there ... was just trying to play it safe by applying here first.

You would need to complete application for licensure with the VT BON and have your school send your transcripts there, and withdraw your SC application.

Call the VT BON, they will be able to give you definitive answers. We can speculate and tell you how it SHOULD work, but they can tell you with 100% certainty how it DOES work.
