Hey everyone, just wondering if there are any SWIC students here that applyed for the nursing program for entry into the program this summer. I applied already, super freaking out because im jst waiting and waiting on my letter.so jst wanted 2 start this board for possibly other applicants 2 vent or give tips out on dealing with the wait
This could be a horrible questions but does anyone know someone that got accepted and will not be able to be in the program starting in May 2010??? I too am an alternate and I just really want to get in!!!! I hear some years none of the alternates get in and I have heard that up to 6 or more have gotten into the program!
I have been reading your posts for some time. I was waiting for my letter as well and received it today. I was told I am an alternate. Does anyone know how many alternates they take into the program?
Hey Destrin2 have you heard anything back about your alternate letter? I hope that we hear back soon if you have not heard anything I think that I am more nervous this past week than I was before I even got a letter!! I heard that they look at GPA when they rank the alternates!
Yeah it has been just awful sitting here and waiting. I was told by the school the people who were accepted have 10 days to respond to their acceptance letters. If they dont respond or decline thats when they will let all of the alternates know. I was told the same thing about the GPA. They just wouldnt tell me where I was on the list.
Yeah I really dont know why they wont tell us what number we are ranked! It would be nice to know if we were either 1, 5 or 12, it would at least let myself know if I should really be thinking that I could still get in. I know that the letters were dated April 12th I wonder if it is 10 days from then or 10 days from when they get the letters. I just want to know so that I can quit worrying!! I keep coming up with different scenarios and asking my husband if he thinks that I have a good chance because of it, I know that he just wants me to find out too so that I will stop bothering him. He is a very chill person and I am the total opposite.
I will let you know if I hear anything good or bad. Are you going to go to one of the orintations? I think I will be attending the one May 1st. I just hope I get in so bad!!!!!!! It took me so long to be able to apply because my husband is in the military and the moving didnt help at all.
Yeah I will probably go to the May 1st one too! Hopefully we know before then. I really want to get in too, it would suck to have to wait until next year to apply again. I just keep telling myself that if I would have taken one class last fall I would have been in. Or if I would have done better on the ENglish portion of the test. DO have any experience in a hospital or in the medical field??
Hi everyone:) Sorry to hear you have to wait! I can't imagine what you are going through. I will say that I was surprised last year, b/c there were quite a few people who did not accept their seat in the program. One of my really good friends was an alternate and she did get in. It was the longest and hardest wait of her life:( If I was an alternate I would go to the orientations. This way if someone drops before summer classes start you guys will know whats going on and have an idea of what the nursing department is going to need from you. Well best of luck and I hope to hear you all made it in!:)
Hey BUSYALLTHETIME thanks for the information! A couple of questions for you if you don't mind......How long after your friend found out she was an alternate did she find out that she got in? And you said that there where some people that didn't except there seat do you know how many that was last year? Just really nervous!! THANKS
My friend found out the following week the letters were sent out. She called a lot and asked if someone had given up a seat yet...LOL! I don't know an exact number, but you have to think about how much things can change for someone. One of my friends gave up her seat, b/c she just realized it wasn't what she wanted to do. Unfortunately for some people it takes a little while in the program to realize nursing is not for them. Hopefully, you guys will get some closure soon:)

Yeah I was really upset when I saw it at first but when I called and they said 12 were alternates I felt alot better. Still wish I didnt have to wait so long to know if I get spot or not. I have finished everything I could finish and really need this.
