I presume you are on a tourist visa and for IP you need a pass in CGFNS exam and English exam. For CGFNS exam you need a local license plus for Ca you now need a local license. If you are on a tourist visa it will not allow you to work therefore getting IP is a waste of time. Even if you find a employer you will not be able to stay and adjust your visa. All instruction/requirements for IP for Ca can be found on the BRN website, really you have only 3 months left on your visa which is not enough time to do the IP route plus like I said without a work visa you can't work

One never goes by the the time that the actual visa expires when determining how long that they can remain in the US. Does not matter when it expires, but the date that is on the I-94 in your visa is what they go on. No one is ever given more than 180 days with the tourist visa.

Without a SSN#, CA is not going to issue a license to you. Without having a visa that will permit you to work here, then there is going to be no SSN#.

And as Anna mentioned, for the state of CA if you read their website, requires that a foreign nurse take and pass the CGFNS exam, as well as the English exams. They have a language requirement on their website, but the only time that it is required is when one is wanting the IP.

In my opinion, there is abosolutely no reason to even consider it.

thank you. now i know. thanks again for sending me a message. may be its not my time yet. is it suzzane4 who send me a message? thanks by the way.

thanks you for answering my message. now i know. i have one more question. if ever i'll work here but not as a nurse and then my employer petition me for a working visa, is it valid to have an IP? assuming i have passed CGFNS and english exams

Generally you will find employers will prefer a pass in NCLEX not CGFNS exam as you will still need to pass that exam. Will also depend on work permit because generally work permit is applicable to the job the employers wants you for and may not allow you to work as a nurse (if work permit is for something different)

If you get a job here in another profession, then the work permit will not cover you to work as a nurse. The visa would be specific to only that one employer.

Not sure why you are focused on the IP, it is only valid for maxinmum of 6 months and it is never renewed. And not sure why you would want to go thru the CGFNS exam when it is not required. That makes no sense to me at all.

You still need to write the NCLEX to be able to get a license to work in the US as an RN.

american visa. why?

If you are on a tourist visa then you can not work and may get denied extension. If looking to change your status and work then you can not do it. When I asked what visa it was what type of visa, just American doesn't mean anything as there are several different types of US visas. So again what type of visa are you in the US with and what are you looking for?

oh sori i mean my tourist visa. i'll renew it next year.
