Suspension Update

Well folks I am back to work tonight. My department head realized that the patient lied. He stated that "nurse came into room and flashed open my jacket telling him that this is what we think of unruly patients". Not one nurse who was with me agreed with anything that patient said. My shirt was the only identifying factor is why I was named. As far as I know he was not unruly. So it could have been the huge drug load he is taking. My boss did tell me NOT TO GO INTO his room Hey, NO PROBLEM with that. She is holding the 2 day suspension as for just wearing a T-Shirt. She admitted that it would not have gone this far if she had been in town. Thanks guys and gals for the learning lesson. All of it helped especially as I did not have anyone to talk to about this. She did offer me off tonight, or I could come in at 11PM but I need to go in and work.

Good luck to you, glad to hear that it is working out :)

Wow, that is fabulous news!

It's a good thing you have a good relationship with you co-workers and that they're willing to back you up. I does my heart good to see that, for once, an employer was willing to take a nurse's word over a patient's.

Meanwhile, you might think about keeping a change of clothes handy for those days when your laundry is running behind.

Wow, I'm so glad that cooler heads prevailed. I guess you'd chalk it up to a lesson learned and you can go on. :)

I'm so glad that it worked out for you.

I'm glad things panned out o.k.! Big hugs to ya!!

Glad it worked out: I'd still want back pay though. After all, you were wearing a covering jacket!

The saga of suspension is now in the peer review stage. The management took the original statement from the patient and is using it to punish me regarding the T Shirt/ and customer satisfaction. Even though BOTH department head and assistant have said that they believe me 100% that I did not say what that pt said that I did, they are still allowing the suspension to stand. I have talked with my department head telling her which staff on a daily basis wear T-SHirts, and other non uniform dress...she said she would put a reminder in the email. She has not done this. So I have kept record of all the staff that do not wear the uniform per dress code. The only T shirt allowed is under a scrub top/etc. Anything other than our hosptial name is a NO -NO. Yet some wear scrubs "stolen" from a prior place of employment. I wonder how the peer review will work out....if staff may be afraid of retailation. I have one step after that, and it will be with an "outside" arbitration. I hate to say this, but my health has not been great since all of this started. Guess I am too sensitive about falsehoods. My husband says I am too naive, but you will only catch me once on something.
