Hello,
On the 13th of this month I was pulled off the floor for suspected use because of my higher Omni cell pulls and not scanning 1mg of po dilaudid which was an honest mistake that I've caught multiple times almost happening because I scan 2 1mg tabs. Anyways, I was questioned for an hour, my bag and locker checked all clean with nothing in them, then put on administrative leave. I tested positive for fentanyl. It won't matter that I believe the fentanyl was laced with medication I got from Mexico a week prior(my antidepressants, omeprazole, toradol, zorfran, Tylenol....basically everything I take at home because it was "cheaper" so why not)….it was still positive. I learned this from the testing center while I freaked out trying to figure out why it was positive. She said the positive was "so so low and not active drug use levels.” She suggested I ask my employer to retest me, but I'm going to assume they won't agree to that. I asked last week with no reply. It was right on the cutoff line between negative and positive. I never diverted this drug and they were "worried" about the dilaudid, so I freaked out when I tested positive for it. I called a lawyer who told me if I'm fired today at the meeting, I can be proactive and call him back.
My job is wanting to go over "next steps.” Does anyone think this sounds promising and that they may want to work with me? I'm hoping they let me prove myself and that I am not actively using. I'll enroll in a program, do random tests, go to meetings, I just don't want to lose this job or my license over it. I even told my husband I'd do rehab to prove I was serious. I guess there was a nurse on my unit years ago that had a drug problem, got caught diverting, so they had her go to rehab for help and she kept her job. But then she did it again and was then fired.

I don't think it's likely that medication that isn't a narcotic or street drug is laced. I'd ask to do a hair test or nail test because they go back farther. It'd be so much easier if they didn't report you and you just get a different job. The monitoring agreement with rehab, random tests etc is really hard and horrible and I don't actually have a SUD. If just walking away from this job without being reported is an option I suggest that. You don't want years of a monitoring agreement.

That made me laugh when you said she did it again and was fired.
Thats true.... avoid the monitoring if possible because if you had to find another job it may be extremely difficult.
I could never figure this out about being unencumbered license.
Why was it all or nothing. Also if they have reinstatements why do they revoke them if there is a chance to be reinstated.
I could not figure that out with the employer either. If you were allowed to work you should be allowed to freely.

I checked my database and trazadone can cause a false positive for fentanyl.
Gas chromatography should be able to rule out Trazodone vs fentanyl
