Support group for CRNE June 2011

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hello everyone,

I realize when I had to write my nursing exam how much pressure I experienced about the whole thing. I wrote mine in June 2010 and passed in first attempt but still remember when I walked out the exam, I was not sure what would be the result.

The purpose of this thread is supporting those nursing students who are planning to write their CRNE in upcoming June. Students, please feel free to share your concerns and questions. Nurses please support those students with tips for study.

Just couple of reminders before we get started:

1. Please do not discuss specific questions or any content tested in CRNE.

2. Please read other threads for more information as well. Other threads give you valuable information and be smart and take them into your advantage.

3. Please stay on topic.

4. Please use proper grammar and spelling.

Thank you all.

All, I'm also booked for the June exam and I'm in the process of completing practise exams, researching, reading etc. Is there a pre course around that i can sit in preparation for the exam.

thanks in anticipation x

Hi! Here in Toronto review courses usually starts early like February or March. Where are you located though? Completing practice exams are a a really good practice. :D

Specializes in geriatrics.

Its completely up to you, and how you learn, but if you follow the tips I suggested, and do the practise questions, that is usually enough to succeed. Including my friends, and my clinical group (so about 26), none of us enrolled in a prep course, and we all passed the first time. Again, this depends on you, but I feel those courses are a waste of money. There is no guarantee you'll pass, and they're expensive. You might be better to make a small study group.

Ricky john,

thanks for the reply,I am UK based, and hoping to relocate as soon as i pass this exam.I have signed up to an online testing, and scoring 113-120.Any idea what the "pass" score is? Im told its a pass or a fail, but im looking for an indication of what i need to be scoring for a pass mark.

Not sure about your scores. but I wrote CRNE this February and passed on my 1st attempt. I'm educated from India. Passing scores were 114 out of 180. There are 200 questions on exam. Out of these 20 questions are experimental, so only 180 questions are there for real scoring.

I took coaching in Surrey, BC for 4 weeks. I also studied Mosby's Canadian Comprehensive Review of Nursing 2nd edition, Mosby's Prep Guide for CRNE, CRNE Prep Guide from CNA 4th edition and 5th edition. Also read nursing competencies, standards and ethics on CNA's website.

If you need further info, feel free to ask.

Good luck

Sorry for diverting the purpose of this forum. I really need your help. I wrote the last CRNE, and i passed. I'm currently working in manitoba as a temporary worker (LPN), CNO said until i show an evidence that i can work in Ontario, i wont be able to register with them. Please, does anyone have any clue as to what i can do???????????????? I ts really getting to me, cos there are no jobs in Ontario.

It's actually pretty straightforward. If you can't get a job in Ontario - and you can't - then you can't be registered in Ontario. If you wanted to live and work in Ontario, why did you go to Manitoba in the first place/

Are you PR CARD holder or Canadian citizen?,,,,that's what they need,,,you should be able to work in ontario,,,it has nothing to do with job availability,,,,CNO just makes sure that we nurses meet the requirements of registration,,,,it has nothing to do with jobs,,,,

Hi Rickyjohn,

I wish to take crne in october. can you please tell me wen does we start coahing with chris? Can you please forward his number or address to me.I really want your help.Kindly help me find out a good prep course.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a PR card yet, all i have is a temporary work permit that enables me to work in Manitoba as LPN. I really don't know what to do.

Thanks for having this thread! I'm an IEN from the US and will be taking the CRNE in October hopefully once I pass the SEC/CCA this month! It really helps to see what materials you all are using and how helpful you find them. Also helps to see the comparisons between NCLEX and CRNE - I think they are similar in some ways (multiple choice, testing critical thinking and application of knowledge) but it seems NCLEX is more concrete whereas CRNE questions seem rather vague (and superficially look "easy").

By the way, for those of you IENs, did you take the SEC/CCA?? If so, do you have any advice? I put up a post in the International forum but haven't gotten any help yet.
