I am always overcome with guilt when I call in-but I have been running a fever for 2 days now..I have called in today-but I just don't see making a 12 hour shift on a surgical telemetry unit...what would you do?(just picking brains..I know what I'm going to do)

Holy cow! I am sitting here sick and I called in for today, and I feel terrible! Yes I know that i should be here resting, but I feel so much guilt for the floor and for the patients. I do hope they found someone to come in, but I feel just terrible, I guess that's part of being a nurse. :o

i think if i were the patient would i want me to come in and take care of me?

I don't think it's IBS or anything like that.. I've had this since I was a kid.. If I get really stressed out, I get diarrhea really bad... It usually goes away in a day or so.. and Immodium usually helps... FMLA was suggested to me, but I don't think I am sick enough to qualify for it.

[color=lime]if i'm sick

it's no trick

or sin

when i call in.

it's a fact

a sick nurse

can't pick-up the slack

makes things worse.

here these words

for i tell no lie

"a nurse is a nurse is a nurse"

but one day

we'll get sick and die...

like everyone else!

and that's real!

:rolleyes:
