Anyone currently attending Farmingdale LPN program? What was your grades for the 3 preclinical courses? What was your score on the pax exam? What is the program like? I am looking to transfer to this school so any information that you have is appreciated.
I had all my pre-reqs done for the lpn to rn (statistics, A&P 1 and 2, Lifespan development, ect.) I am currently taking medical microbiology as a summer course (really intense) and that is my last co-req. You can either take it before or with 203, I decided to do it over the summer before I start 203 in the fall. You have to have all your pre-reqs except for lifespan and micro before you can get into 105.
I am very sorry to announce that SUNY Farmingdale is "Deactivating" their ASN and LPN program, while growing their bachelors program. Their bachelors program in nursing is relatively new only being started in 2006. Here is a statement from their website:
"In order to respond to changing employer requirements and trends in the nursing industry, the PN Nursing program is being deactivated. The Spring, 2012 class was the last class of new students admitted to the PN program."
"the AS Nursing program is being deactivated. The Fall, 2012 class will be the last class of new students who are admitted to the AS program."
Although I am not entirely surprised at this decision, I am sure many other schools will soon follow suit in NY as well as other states. I had a great learning experience from the PN program at Farmingdale. The good side is that they will be able to accommodate more RN-BSN students.
Hi LongIslandLPN,
How are you? How are you doing with your program? You must be half way through. Are you still able to work and go to school. I'm happy to say that I made it through the LPN program at Farmingdale, and I am trying to prep for the NCLEX, do you have any advice on how I should study? I feel a little lost without my Professors. Hope all is well with you, looking forward to hearing from you!
Congrats!! Its such a great program so I'm sure your going to be a great nurse. Almost done! I graduate this May and am happy to say I currently have the highest grade in my class. Applying to bsn programes soon. Yes i work and go to school full time its crazy hectic but do able. Do as many questions as possible! Exam cram was great. Don't worry you'll do fine
Hi LongIsland LPN,
It's been a while. I'm sure you are busy, and excited. You are probably close to graduating. I am happy to say I received my license in March, however the job market isn't looking too hot. Do you have any suggestions where I should look for a job? I feel like I have applied everywhere, and the interviews have not been going to well. Take Care!
I am doing well! I graduate in 3 weeks!! Finally its been a long road and still have 2 more tests as well as a care plan and teaching projects to complete. I'm also moving soon so everything is happening at once!! Looking for a job is a full time job! I was lucky to get a job right after I got my license in March of 2011. I did so by printing out 60 to 70 resumes and mailing them Physically in the mail to every nursing home dialysis center and hospital. The online application seems to get lost in cyber space!! Go door to door and practice interview questions and responses. You have to exude Apes of professionalism and confidence in your interviews!!!!

I am so happy to hear that you are doing good!! 18 wow thats a small class! I bet your studying hard I know how that is. I think the LPN program really makes your ready for the "real world". Nassau is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, but with the "foundation" of knowledge I got from Farmingdale I am doing very well. Care plans are not as hard as they are tidious and time consuming. I may email Prof N. and come in and speak about "Life after the program". Talk to you soon!!
