SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University WHNP - 2023

Hey guys,

Started my application for Downstate's WHNP for Fall 2023 start. Thought I'd start this thread for all interested and/or applying. I'm in between excitement and anxiety! ? All questions welcome! Any past/current students with advice/opinions? Good luck everyone!

Thank you! It took a while, but I was able to get access to everything in the end ?.  I can't believe the program is right around the corner. My job has us filling out the schedule for end of August to September now. Just to double check, for the first semester of the program, classes are to be held on Tuesdays?

Hey!! Oh good, glad to hear it. I just finished all the health requirements. And yes, time is flying. First day will be here soon. I think we have an online orientation coming soon too. I thought first semester was on Thursday but you have me second guessing now. I don't want to give the wrong information.

Good Morning! Just received the email from admissions about orientation on the 28th. It is recommended but not required to come in-person as the event will be recorded and emailed to us later that day. I wanted to see if anyone was attending in person? 

I hope you all are enjoying your Summer!

Oh good. Yea, I'm trying to draft my work schedule and taking two days off that week is a lot. But if more people are coming I would like to come, greet and meet.

There are two approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.

One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.

Two: Premium members may create a "club" by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page. Then click on "Create A New Club" in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.

Does anyone have any feedback on the this WHNP program. I was just accepted into the fall 2024 program.  My initial interview was rough.  The director basically told me I cannot work or have any life at all for two years. I have teenage children and do work full time.  Would love some feedback from people in the program before I make a decision.  The first impression was not favorable. Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you.
