SUNY Downstate

Hi, second degree bachelors student here looking to move to NYC or surrounding area in LI and I was looking at SUNY Downstates nurse residency program. Does anyone have any additional information about the hospital and the area? Is it a good place for new grads? How to go about hiring, and how well is their program overall? Thanks for any help!

    SUNY Downstate is in terrible shape financially and barely hiring at all - I don't believe the new grad program is a thing any longer. Last fall they were laying off and furloughing their nurses and there has been threats of closure. Nursing a hospital back to health - NY Daily News
