I am there now and the program is the best. Professors are great too.

I'm going to be attending fall 2011. Just completed all requirements, looking forward to the experience. Did anyone else hear from them, I'm looking to start networking with my peers.....:)

join us on facebook under suny downstate rn-bsn for fall 2011 class:yeah:

I made a visit to Downstate a few months ago and the inability of the staff to answer simple questions was a bit discouraging. Pretty much any question was met with look in one of the packets on the wall behind you. Also none of my emails were ever answered.

I hope you guys can fill me in.

My main concern was really the entrance requirements. Does every single pre-req need to be fulfilled before starting nursing classes or can I take a few simultaneously?

And how was your experience transferring credits in?

Thanks.

Hey all,

has anyone done the NACES RN-BSN mobility exam? I would like to get them done before we start in the fall...

I've started, took the psych exam and registered to take the other two exams prior to the start of the program. Go to NLN site, they have the exams listed at downstate with the availability info. Med surg is July 18, and maternal child is in Aug .

Yes the prereqs must be completed prior to starting the program ;but you may apply for the program while completing them at your current school and have your transcripts sent at the end. They do tend to be merely functionary at Downstate but take your career and education in hand..... be pushy too:)

Hi

Poetslove@- I tried to "pm" you so I could send out a message but I cant really figure it out... I had scheduled to do two of my NLN exams on Monday the 11th and then the last one on August 1st. I just got my first job as an RN and its beginning Monday the 11th- of course. So now I am going to have to delay my exams. I am concerned that due to everything else I am going to have to study for my new job, I am going to get a little rusty on the information I need to recall for all these NLN exams- how did you find psych? Did you study much? What did you use to study? I suppose I can just wing it and if I dont get a 50% I can do it another time.

anyway, would love to hear what you thought of it and if you have any tips.

best

ashley

Just study your nclex style questions, its the same type of test. Wasn't difficult but I work in psych so I might be biased. I'm also taking a test on the 1st of August so I'll probably see you there. Congrats on the job, where you going to work? I take it you're starting in med surg? Your gonna be busy thats for sure but you can do it:)
