Hi everyone!! I recently applied for the absn program at SUNY Downstate for fall 2025. I couldn't find any threads for this application cycle, so I decided to start one. I've looked through the previous ones and was able to find some answers, but I figured we should have our own. Good luck!!

Do you know if the school takes prerequisites completed online?

I'm not sure. If you call admissions they should be able to help. Some schools will take them as long as the online school has specific certifications.

Hi. I recently applied to downstate for 2025 absn as well. Basically they marked my application as incomplete because I am taking a/p II & microbio this upcoming semester. Apparently you are only able to have one sciecne prerequisite in progress, and I have two. Admissions says this means my application is on hold until grades are released in May and there have been many students in previous years admitted in May after waiting for Spring grades, so I am hopeful about that part. 

It's frustrating because I feel like I did a good amount of research, and did not see this caveat with the absn program (only the bsn). They don't have it listed anywhere on their admission requirements or absn information websites.

Just wanted to write here and see if anyone is in the same boat, or knows anything about that? Has experience with not being able to get considered until May? I feel like that's so late to wait to know, but the admission's note made me feel better. I applied to one other school but it's private, so I really wanted to hit downstate, so this is kinda sour. 

Would I not be able to interview until after May..?

I'm in the same boat as you, currently taking both those classes in the Spring. On their application page, they say you should only have one science course IP, and I assumed that applied to Summer, since technically Spring semester would be the 2nd to last semester. But they said the same thing to me as well about it being on hold/people still getting accepted after Spring grades. Fingers crossed for us both!

 

Also, anyone comfortable sharing their GPA/scores? Curious to know TEAS scores from other applicants to get a better understanding of how competitive this upcoming year will be.
