Hey! Is there anyone that has been accepted into Downstates FNP program that starts in the Fall? I am interested in going
Hello everyone,
I noticed that the application deadline in Jan. 2019. I would like to pursue the Master's upon graduating with my BSN (May 2019). Do you think I can still apply in Jan? Also, can you share your stats with me? Currently, I have a 3.71 in nursing. My BS in Education GPA was 3.51. I have alot of healthcare volunteer experiences and I have been an NA at a local hospital for a year. Can you share some thoughts on my chances with me? I really appreciate it :) Good luck to everyone!
@floatrn29 the program is coming along... majority is self taught. Initially it will be hard to adjust but you will get the hang of it. Congrats on getting in!
Thank you so much! So i'm in the program now.. and I'm starting to have some doubts as to if I am going to be well prepared for clinicals. For example, I wish there are more to our health assessment class. How do you feel when you started clinicals or as you are going thru the program?
It takes some adjusting but it will all hable sense. I personally feel everything came together when I was in clinicals . You can't expect to be an expert and having to be comfortable with being a novice fnp. There is no way that you will leave any program feeling completely competent in your new role. F0r you to do this you have to gain experience.

@E1024 they expect you to find your own clinical site. If you struggle to find one they will try and help but they will not guarantee that it will be close to you. The professors are OK. Majority of the program is self taught but doable. Professors are not typically good at replying to emails. The program is constantly changing and seems unorganized at times. Overall, considering the cost, I think the program is OK.
