I wanted to start a thread about the upcoming application process for SUNY Downstate ABSN. There is a fantastic thread for the previous round of applications last year, and I thought this would be a good forum for us to share any information that we might have about Downstate's admission process as we go through it together. @Ash834 Yes, it is a group interview of about 5-6 people which will take approximately an hour to an hour and half. Everyone picks a number which is assigned to a random question. Be confident in yourself and the interview will go smoothly. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info!! Do you by any chance know any examples the questions they might ask? We all only get one question or multiple?

@Ash834 You get about 4 questions and 1 written one. The questions can be very random and are just to get to know you as a person. There's no wrong answer.

More updates! I just received a call to interview on April 30th! There’s still hope for those waiting for call backs!

Hello all

I have my interview tomorrow afternoon and Im a little nervous! Anyone who's done the interview can you give examples of questions they might ask? What questions did you get? I hear they're random, but knowing a few would be a great help.

Hi,

While it would be great to have all the questions beforehand, I think you’d benefit more by being confident in whatever your answers are. There are absolutely no wrong answers. Show up early, dress appropriately for the interview, make good eye contact, have good posture, and anything else that would tell the interviewer you are a confident and very capable. Good luck!

I had my interview this past Tuesday and the waiting game is driving me crazy lol. Mostly because my tuition for another program is due May 1st and I'll have to pay a late fee for missing the deadline. SUNY Downstate is my top choice though so it's worth it. Good luck everyone!

And as far as the interview goes I know it sounds cliché but literally just be yourself. The questions aren't meant to stump you, they're just to get more info about who you are as a person.

Hello! Was your interview on April 18th by chance? I was there too, and the waiting game is becoming painful lol ?

I’m sure you nailed it though. Everyone I was in the interview with seemed confident and very motivated.

Do you happen to know how we will be notified?

I’m guessing that they will either send an e-mail notifying us that a decision has been made, and have us log into our application account?

Or do they send a traditional letter in the postal mail?

I interviewed on 4/16. I was just wondering how long it took everyone to hear back? and if they heard back by email or mail

Hi! Yes I was there and I remember you! You did great as well! I think we'll get an email as I never received anything from Downstate on paper, only emails.
