SUNY Downstate ABSN Summer 2013

Hi All!

I wanted to start this thread to create some conversation about our application to SUNY Downstate's ABSN program beginning Summer 2013. I've heard a lot of pros and cons about the program and I would like us all to share some of our thoughts! Do any of you have a Bachelor's already? If so what is it in? Where did you take your pre reqs and stuff? What are some of your grades? I took all of my pre-reqs at Suffolk Community College. I received an A in A&P I & II (incl labs), Microbio (incl lab), Statistics, Psychology, Sociology, Developmental Psych, Group Theory/Social Psychology, & English I. I received a B+ in Chemistry and English II. My TEAS V scores are Reading: 91 and Math: 87. I also have my BA from Stony Brook University. Also, I applied to SB last year and did not get accepted to there program. I'm afraid the same thing will happen with Downstate and I do not know what more a prospective student can do! If there are any recent grads of the ABSN program out there please give a shout out! Any advice or opinions will help! Good luck everyone and hopefully we will all be together in the summer!!!!

That just appeared on my checklist as well but they all have red x's next to them....guessing that's a no? Still haven't gotten a letter, starting to get really upset, just do me the decency of letting me know where I stand so I don't have to worry about it any more!

I believe the red X's mean that they haven't received those documents yet so it's not checked off. My checklist also says deposit, acceptance form, etc, so I'm praying this is good news! We'll find out in due time (pretty soon).

To all of you who have the added items on your checklist...you are in!

If you can see the deposit, background check, acceptance form..you are golden.

The red x just means that they have not received these items yet.

Congratulations to all and sorry that they made you wait!!!

I look forward to meeting all of you on June 3 for orientation.....

Really?!?!?!?!

REALLY!??!?!?! :woot:

It says alternate as well, how would I know which? Still nothing in the mail and they won't tell me anything over the phone. I'm dying here!

If u have deposit and acceptance form it means u in :)

My checklist also said accepted / alternated

yes, my said alternate/accepted as well.

last year when I was an alternate, it did not include a link to pay the deposit, background check, etc.

you should receive your letter in the next few days

Well I was placed on the alternate list...again! Sheesh. I guess it doesn't necessarily mean you've been accepted if you have it on your checklist. Good luck to the rest of you!

I'm so sorry :( I'm not getting my hopes up until the letter arrives, did you finally get yours today?

Yup it came in the mail. Since I'm at work, I had my mom open it and read it and it said I was placed on the alternate list.

I wasn't too confident being that I didn't see a deposit link, although there was a deposit and acceptance form on my checklist. Thank you though!!!
