SUNY DELHI anyone?

Published

I was wondering if anyone here is doing SUNY Delhi's RN to BSN online? Chose not to go with excelsior for the BSN and SUNY schools are cheaper. I start in Jan of '08. It would be great if anyone else here is doing it.

Hi, I'm attending SUNY Delhi now, I'm in my first semester. So far it is pretty good, although it'd be nicer if I already had a bachelors in something so I wouldn't need a lot of general education classes on top of the nursing classes. It is a lot of writing, so far no exams, and some power point presentations. I haven't begun the clinicals yet, so I'm not sure how all of that will work out. It has been a little disorganized, one person telling you one requirement, another saying not, then back again. But not that bad compared to my ADN program.

Specializes in Neurology and Med/Surg.

I just applied last week and hoping to start this summer or fall. I am a little bummed to have just realized they are not accredited and wondering if it's really worth it at this point to try to find another school. In the grand scheme, what is the benefit to going to an accredited school? I plan on going for my masters at some point so I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Thanks for any advice/guidance!

I just got accepted but didn't realize they weren't accredited! And advice on what to do?!?!?

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

According to their site, they are accredited ...

That sounds like it applies to their entire nursing program. Or does it?

I emailed the enrollment coordinator today and this is the response I got.

"We are in the accreditation process and expect full accreditation within the year."

So what are we to do... trust our time and money in them that they will be accredited or steer clear?

Can anyone give me the Gen Ded requirements for the BSN program. I can't find it on the site anywhere. I am getting close to my RN and want to work on BSN pre-reqs. Any help would be awesome.

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

I never went there, but family members have, so I'll ask them about it. I don't know if any did nursing though, but let me see what I find.

You've just made me nostalgic for upstate NY (I've spent a lot of my life living outside of Hamden).

this may be an old thread, but I hope someone who is this program writes an update, especially on courses that require clinical, like community health nursing. what are the provisions?
