To my delight, SiL came over at noontime and gave Nannie a shower, did her hair, dressed her and put her in her recliner with the breakfast tray I fixed (to be nice; because I haven't cleaned up the kitchen or done any dishes). I guess now that SiL has left and gone home, I should probably get dressed and go down to the den to take up my daily position on the sofa. I can scroll around on-line, or get into the jumbo puzzle book I purchased when I did the last puzzle in the previous book of puzzles. Another exciting day in the world of Nannie.
Good morning!
Joe, glad you had a calm day.
Stars, too funny that your hearing improved to the point of annoyance. My dad declines to wear his most of the time. He's not interested in hearing the world around him. Nice of your SIL to come over.
Ado, glad the sleep study is over and you get good results. I ignore any advice on avoiding caffeine. There is no way, no how I'm not having some in the morning. I have a cup of black coffee even if I have fasting labs. On the morning of procedures I have a really small shot of strong coffee. Don't be like me.
After a couple of bad days and some weight loss, I backed up and fasted a while yesterday and went to some lighter blander foods instead of my super spicy high fiber diet.. That helped given things a rest. Doc is aware and said I can take Imodium as needed.
Given this ongoing situation, I regretfully canceled my trip in November. Best friend was understanding and with his own mobility issues actually was relieved not to go and was hoping I would cancel. I should be getting a full refund from the dog sitter and the parking. I'm totally bummed and keeping my spirits up with a chronic illness is something new to me that I need to learn.
TMI sorry.
Tweety~ I wish they could find out what is causing your health problem. I, too, have a good 'friend' in Loperidine ...every other or every third day, I end up having to take two (with nobody to "call in the morning") I don't know why I have this problem, except, as I keep saying, it has to be the tension (and disgust) of having to be glued to Nannie all the time. You know, OTHERWISE I feel pretty good, health wise. The gypsies come and go but not to the degree that they used to; usually after I've had my AM meds and rest a bit, they take effect and the ouchies calm down to a tolerable degree. I still have the grinding of rocks and stones in my knee joint when I bend the left knee and stand on my left foot, putting pressure on it. But as bad as the crackings sound, at least it is not painful.
Nannie is dozing, but not yet deeply asleep. I am going to eat my curried chicken empanadas (sp?) for brunch.
Hello all!
Awwwww, Tweety, I'm so sorry this gut issue has interfered with your travel plans. I know how much you and your friend like to travel (and, selfishly, I love hearing about your travels). Fingers crossed that you can re-schedule (and good that you get a refund!).
No Stars, glad SiL took care of getting Nannie up and at 'em today! Got those hearing aids in? Yah, we know the dishes will get done, sooner or later. I was thinking about the ongoing tasks: dishes, laundry -- and Shari Lewis' "This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend..." popped into my head. Now I'll have it as an earworm for awhile!
Ado, good you got that sleep study out of the way. I hope the results are helpful.
Joe, do you do the same exercises with each session, or do you focus on certain different groups each time, rotating? Just curious.
I slept pretty well, was only awake for an hour or so around 5 a.m., then fell back asleep till dh woke me. We will meet up with fiddler at 1230 and get on the road to the band practice area. We hope to polish our set list, to be ready for the Oct 10 program.
Mountain communities are still digging out from the recent mud and debris slides. I don't see that any rain is forecast for the next two weeks, so it won't hamper recovery efforts.
Have a good Sunday and evening!
Good Afternoon,
We had a little bit of rain last night, but the clouds have drifted away and the sun is out. We had a good time at the picnic last night. They had catered tacos, with rice and beans. I rather liked it, but dh was a little put out that it wasn't his idea of a picnic. Too bad, so sad. There was supposed to have been a dessert contest, but only 2 people brought desserts, me and another gardener. Oh well, we tied for first!
I haven't done much today. Took the dogs on a long walk. Then fell asleep. I guess I didn't sleep so well last night. I've just been picking up clutter, did a load of laundry, worked on a jig saw puzzle, glanced at some football. UW won yesterday, the Seahawks won today, and the Mariners, are starting now, and headed for the playoffs (I hope). Our catcher, Cal Raleigh, is having a stellar year hitting home runs.
We are going to see Downton Abbey in the theatre tonight, so that means popcorn for dinner. I know it isn't healthy, but its one of my favorite dinners.
Aw, Tweety, that's too bad about your trip.
I am terrible about fasting, too. For labs, I usually have black coffee. I think there is some evidence that it may affect triglyceride levels, but my aren't a problem anyway. I am such a caffeine addict, that I can't sleep if I am without for too long.
I should finish drafting a newsletter for our gardening group, by my heart just isn't into it. I could do some research for "plant of the month" for October. But all I can think of is popcorn now.
Hubs and I occasionally enjoy a popcorn-for-dinner night. Sometimes with sliced apples and cheeses. He likes to have Summer sausage, too, so sometimes we do.
Went to church this morning and had a leadership team meeting afterward. Thought I might go play ukulele with the group from the New Horizons band. I haven't touched the use since we gave up the band in the midst of Covid over 5 years ago. But even if I just pick a chord and only play when "my" chord comes around it would be fun. I didn't go, though. Twin A has complained of tummy problems for a couple of days and today he had some awful vomiting. I put him on a liquid diet which meant going out to buy jello and such.
I can't go play ukes next Sunday because I will be in Charlotte for ASHRM.
All this discussion of popcorn got me hungry for it! So, after a light supper, I had a small bowl of it.
We had a good band practice, then ended up with a little jamming and more visiting. Stayed too long, I'm afraid. But we finally tore ourselves away. Dh and I ate when we got home. I am tired! I will relax some, then shower and head to bed.
Have a good evening!

Tweety glad admissions/discharges were low despite acuity being high
Stars I'm sure it is an adjustment, hearing all the stuff you missed before.
Dianah glad your ds is doing better now
Ado glad the sleep study is done
Yesterday was a fairly calm day. Did bird watching in the morning, Ran an errand or two and had lunch with dad. In the evening went to the potluck, my friend B and one of his friends were there. Big crowd, thankfully the rain held off
Today will do some meal prep before church. In the afternoon will help my friend K with unpacking as he has recently moved. Will exercise tonight assuming I'm not too tired
Will get up to about 80 today, rain expected this evening
