Dianah glad the cat is better, and the fires are starting to get under control

Stars glad today has been a quiet day for her

Ado glad you were able to get out on the water, thanks for sharing the pictures

Was a busy day yesterday.  In the morning had the nature hike with the over 50 group.  Was just me and the other organizer, which was fine, she's an interesting person

Then had our date, went to lunch and to the art show.  Which was interesting, though the art was rather odd and modern and not quite to my taste.  We also talked about the relationship, he's not sure if he wants to be anything more than a friend, and I realized I felt the same.  We'll still keep meeting but mostly likely as friends going forward

Then went to the open house being held by the couple from the gay group.  Big crowd, quite warm as the windows and doors were open.  One person briefly fainted in the heat.  But otherwise a good time

Today have to get to church early to work as an usher.  Then will stop at the store and finish the cooking for the week

Finally going to be nice, in the 70s with rain, haven't had much rain the last 2 weeks or so

Good morning!

Joe, glad you guys had "the talk" and both came out okay.

Yesterday was free museum day for locals.  You had to make reservations and best friend made two reservations where we saw a collection of artwork by southern border artists.  It was really good, some depicting Native American life, but most Mexican-American culture.  Then we went to the Salvatore Dali museum here.  Both were busy but the Dali museum was quite crowded but it was manageable.  Good to see the community out enjoying the museums.

Had a very un-healthy un-vegan late lunch and it was good.  Later did some education for work on medication disposal, and I need four trauma CEU's and got that done.

Tomorrow I have someone coming at 8AM to fix the broken window.  Going to start a list for my Italy trip which is a week from tomorrow!  Tuesday the dog sitter is coming over with his dog to meet my dogs.  Today I hope on getting the guest bedroom in order.  I need to wash the comforter and linens plus get move around the stuff I'm hoarding in there.

Good morning Joe, Tweety, and all who follow. Life has been... hectic. As we creep closer to October, my panic is rising over needing to get my house ready to be viewed by others (pet sitter... good grief as much as I'd love to move, that ain't happening anytime soon unless I won the Powerball last night... note to self, check ticket). Where the bleep does all of this stuff come from? And good grief, where does all of the fur come from, because it doesn't appear my cats are losing that much! So today I need to tackle laundry and a heck of a lot of cleaning. Or hire someone to do the cleaning for me, which is looking more and more tempting to do.

good morning. another cool, overcast day, although the peeked out yesterday in the afternoon. I went to a class yesterday to learn to make hypertufa pots, made with peat, cement, vermiculite and water. It creates a very porous planter suitable for succulents and bonsai. The Master Gardeners will plant some up for next years plant sale.

Then I came home and did some housecleaning. youngest ds has invited some friends over for a bbq. He says we don't need to clean up because their places are messy. Uh, no, thats not how it works. Except now dh is camped in front of the tv and I want to vacuum. Sigh. And yes, we accumulate stuff. I swear every horizontal surface gets piled up but it only seems to bother me. I would cook more, but I get tired of having to clear work space. Oh well. I best get started.

A fellow is outside chopping up the branches from the tree that fell into our yard last Winter. He promised to do it at the time. I guess he finally found time. The tree is the neighbor's responsibility and his brother is doing the work, so at least it's free. but noisy.

Friends are good to have, Joe. Good that you can both acknowledge that and go on.

Rose, I sympathize with the house issues. Are you traveling and that's why you need the pet sitter?

Wow that is a long time to wait to get rid of that tree, J22.

I put off getting started on stuff today after church and now we are having a thunderstorm. It is mild but we still lost power. So did the hospital. The CT can't run on the generator so the hospital has to be on EMS divert. 😟 I suspect that if the city would invest better in infrastructure and preventive maintenance we wouldn't lose power so frequently. But my opinion ion and $6 might get you a coffee at Starbucks. If they have power.

Meanwhile I don't know what we'll have for dinner if the power doesn't come on soon. After our generator was stolen Hubs bought these things that store up electricity and can provide backup power for a short time. He's napping but maybe when he wakes up we can see how well that works. Twin A is having to try finishing his homework on his phone because no internet for his laptop. I wonder if he could set up a Hotspot? I'll suggest that.

I will be! Nothing like procrastinating until the last possible minute to get everything set up and ready

Joe~ Gee whiz! Maybe there isn't anyone else willing to admit that they are "over 50"? But I'm glad the other over-50 person is keeping it up with meetings, and is good, interesting company! And glad you and your new friend both decided the same way about the relationship.

Tweety~ When I lived in Nashville, the museum I worked at was closed on Mondays and Tuesday was "Free Day". I always took Tuesday's off! Saw the crowds on "Free Day" ONCE, and immediately decided it was not for me! Phew!

Ado~ Don't know if you remember me telling y'all that I was doing 3-11 private duty at a very wealthy woman's house...the power went off (including heating) and so she wanted to put on her mink coat to stay warm. And then for supper, we had peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches by candle light! An entirely new experience for her!

Rose~ I have been entering PCH sweeps for 52 years, and so far, all I ever won was years ago and was all of a $10 Amazon gift certificate. What can you get for $10 through Amazon....nada!

 Hey j22!

So I figured what was going on with me last night! My orbital cortex and amygdalae  were feeling very put out....(the empathy and care-giving portions of my brain) they were feeling burnt out, disagreeable and bickering with one another. That's my diagnosis and professional conclusion and I'm sticking to it!

I have in my mind to re-write a song about my time here at Nannie's (8 years) from The King and I...."Getting to know you...." EXCEPT it wouldn't be cheery at all. It's how I used to deal with frustrations of work at the agency which I was employed through for YEEEARZ!  I'm surprised I didn't get fired for all the things I did on the agency voicemails ...ie everyone got it in their VM. Some would just delete me, but other people laughed a lot and thought my efforts were so funny and too true. I was a regular Weird Al Yankovich, though I learned how to do it via MAD magazine's versions of songs in movies, well before Weird Al ever became known.  Allen Sherman was an early influence, too. ("Hello muddah, Hello Fahdah, Here I am at Camp Granada")

I had to take Nannie out in the car to do two errands, because she didn't get sleepy and she looked restless, so I figured it was the easiest way to deal with her.  Two things she noticed (out loud) over and over and over....the sun was "VERY bright", and "There are a LOT of cars here!" *sigh*. But,  I picked up a 12" sub sandwich for us to split for supper, thereby avoiding fretting about supper!

One hour and 45 minutes until Nannie goes to bed!

One hour and 40 minutes until Nannie goes to bed!

One hour and 35 minutes until Nannie goes to bed!

😂🤣😂🤣.......😴......😜YEAH, BUDDY!

The power outage was fairly short-lived. Good deal for the hospital. It is still raining.

I talked with my sister for the first time in 2-3 weeks. She sounded good. I worry sometimes.

I noticed the other day that an oil lamp my mother had still has oil in it. We could have dined by that light! There is still a half a bottle of lamp oil in the pantry, too. I don't suppose it goes bad.

Rose, I haven't had a guest since my best friend stayed about three years ago after his hip replacement.  I too am trying to get things ready for my dog sitter to stay.  I decided at 10pm to clean under the sink since he will be doing cooking and it was a mess.  I washed the sheets and comforter in the bed he'll use.  I have a week so it's not so urgent.

Ado glad you got your power back.

Once my work daughter a few years ago (she's since moved on to the OR) invented a song to the tune of a Lizzo song.  Another coworker (she does per diem now and switched shifts on me) and I would always break out in a song depending on what was happening and said.  For example is someone said "it's hot in here today", we'd break out in a song like the Nelly song "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes....".  Gotta have some fun.

My go-to for power outages is peanut butter and jelly as well.  If I know a storm is coming I stock up on those prepared bean dishes in cans and stock up on fresh fruit.

Speaking of storms, I guess one is coming up the Gulf, so I'm watching that and hoping it passes by.
