82 degrees and sunny for today and tomorrow, and Tuesday we get rain and the HIGH temp will be 52 degrees! ?YIKES! That's kind of an abrupt drop, I'd say! The winds are already blowing the leaves off the trees.
I woke up a little earlier than usual and stayed up because I don't know when those cops will be coming with the papers about changing POA or Guardianship, or whatever. Wonder if they'll need to speak with Nannie? Because THAT ought to be interesting, especially since she's still in bed sleeping, and I won't be getting her up for at least another hour, or when I hear her stirring around.
My sister researched online for other shredding events, but the ones she found are 30+ to 40+ miles away. So, I don't think I will be driving as far as any of those places!
Momo does not want her breakfast, which is supposed to be "rotisserie chicken flavor", which may only mean it is not chicken, but has been 'flavored' to taste like it? I will try something else on her later on. But at least she did her pee and poop on the under-pad that is her "terlet" (Archie Bunker speak).
I just know if *I* go into our 'terlet' the doorbell will ring. Don't things always happen that way? (TMI?)....................Ah, but I was wrong, no doorbell ring. Hooray!
Drinking coffee, thinking I should go back upstairs and start hunting my birth certificate and the marriage license, but I am not awake enough to search right now. Though I "NEED" to get these things done, for cryin' out loud, it is Sunday, and isn't this supposed to be a day of rest? Can't make phone calls until tomorrow: I just looooove making phone calls ☹️especially to offices of bureaucrats. I mean, how can I prove who I am if I can't get the papers that prove who I am? Ppfftt!
Okay, not worth working myself any further into a funk over this, as I am already half-way there. To the funk, that is, not half-way to getting things accomplished.
Feel like signing off as "Crabby Appleton". Anyone remember that cartoon character? I don't; I only remember the name.
Another chilly night, down to the 20s. I rode to breakfast and my face was soooo cold. I ordered onesies for the dogs, but they don't fit well, and one is already torn. I made French toast for dinner last night to use up some brioche bread and it was quite good. And easy. I will have to go to the store to get something for tonight, but the sickies may or may not have any appetite.
When I got dh enrolled in Medicare, I needed all the certificates and ended up have to get official copies. It was a royal PITA. But I have them now and I know where they are! I am starting to think we need to get wills drawn up. Ugh. Dh won't really participate until it's time to sign on the dotted line.
Once again I have laundry and bathrooms to clean, but im trapped under a snoozing dog. Oh well.
The birth certificate I have is a 3x5 printed card, stamped and signed by a notary, YEARS ago. Maybe I just better call the town where I was born to get something "official". I hope they aren't like that SC town where you are supposed to call the Health Dept for birth certificates, but every time you call, their message says they aren't taking any calls. WTH?
Okay, I admit it .... I'm dawdling!
I'm dawdling today, too. Didn't get up for church or the dinner afterward. Gma threw up her breakfast and went back to bed. It's rainy and blustery, 36° and dropping. We need groceries and I must do laundry.
Surgeon said this morning he might discharge sister home and she could deal with the gallbladder as an outpatient. That was before breakfast and she was feeling pretty good. But she wasn't able to eat lunch. She downplays this to me -- "I don't have an appetite. All I'm doing is lying in bed" -- but nephew says she feels sick. I've encouraged her to ask for nausea med if she needs it. And told her it's quite OK to use the call light to ask them to somehow make the IV pump be quiet. It isn't hooked up to her and keeps beeping. Probably a low- battery warning and it just needs to be plugged in.
The party was fun though we were probably the oldest people there by 10-15 years.
We were skipping through channels to see what was on before the news. Half an hour later, Nannie told me there was a big group of women in the woods next to the house. I said, "Nannie, when we were changing channels we saw a church choir singing gospel music. There are NO people in the woods!" She told me she sees people go through there all the time. (Hallucinate much?)
I did get an appt for my hair this coming Wednesday; SiL said she could sit with Nannie at 4 PM. Phew. Thank goodness; I was starting to think about cutting it myself,
I think I am now a "sun-downer" or just badly need a break from Nannie. Around suppertime I feel so irritable with her, then start hoping she'll want to go to bed early. It is quite boring around her now it is just us here. Thank heaven's for Momo!
My girl dog woke me up with a "isn't it time for breakfast" code nose nudge. It dawned on me she doest that between 6AM and 7AM and I was working. Thankfully it was 6:10 and I was showered, dressed, coffee and dogs fed and toileted by 6:30 and I was at work on time. I bribed the secretary to buy us breakfast in the cafeteria. She didn't want anything but bacon and they gave it away to her.
Wasn't in charge and had a decent day.
We have the "Santa Ana" winds today, gusts 40-50 mph at times, bringing dry weather and increasing fire danger from Ventura to LA to San Bernardino County. We did our 20 min of music at the church's Fall Festival, amidst the swirling leaves and gusty winds. Meanwhile, the booths opened (outside!) selling pizza, cotton candy, popcorn, and offering cookie decorating, and free hot dogs were offered as well. There was a "hay ride" through the parking lot, and lots of folks came with their kids and seemed to be enjoying the afternoon. After we did our music, we took our leave, ostensibly to get our bass player home (he drove an hour to get there), but we took him out to eat and had a nice non-windy visit. I KNEW it was going to be cold outside at the Festival, once the sun went lower and lower, with the wind gusts!
Hope you have a good evening!

Stars that is a good makeshift barrier for those squirrel, hope it keeps them out. I'm sure dealing with all of the paperwork and changes is very draining
Ado glad she's feeling better, hope the surgery goes OK
NJ22 I hope she can find answers to her balance issues, this has been going on quite a while
Yesterday was fairly nice. Spent some time brush clearing with members of the environmental group and some other volunteers. Went quickly as there were a lot of people. The volunteer who leads the effort is also very good
Rest of the day was pretty ordinary. Had lunch with dad, ran an errand or two, and exercised. Watched Svengoolie for a while, the movie was so so but Darren McGavin was good
Today have to get to church early as I'll be doing coffee hour. Dad might show up too. Afterwards have a little bit of cooking to do. The rest of the day should be free
Colder day today in the mid 40s with rain expected
