Smoked salmon is wonderful for breakfast... says the guy in Alaska who caught hundreds one year with a fish wheel on the Yukon River and dozens another year with a fish wheel on the Copper River.
The blessings seem to be chasing NSIME down just now. I'll pray for moderation before the blessings become a burden. A quiet life is quickly disrupted.
My social life is basically nonexistent now that I don't attend church and we are both retired. I live vicariously through your book clubs, walks, bowling and socialization.
We have snow. It snowed again yesterday. The challenge of finding the frozen dog poop in the yard has begun. When it just gets covered with snow it's a nasty mess in the Spring and too much always gets covered with snow.
I confess that I had Canadian bacon on my royal eggs instead of smoked salmon. Twins A and B had theirs with salmon.
Went to church then picked up grocery-store fried chicken. But Twin A is at work, Twin B is sleeping since he worked all night and works again tonight, and Hubs had already made hot dogs for himself and his mother. Th rest of the chicken is in the fridge. Maybe I'll pick the meat off and use it to make soup or something.
Looks like we have the option of watching the Tampa Bay game so will do that.
Im sitting at a plant nursery in Seattle waiting for dh. He is perusing the Spring bulbs, even though he has a large shipment at home that needs to be planted. The weather is overcast and drizzly. We will likely avoid downtown due to the Seahawks game. I would like to go to the Chihuly garden because it's mostly under glass.
we has the frozen dog poo issue in Idaho, with 6 months of snow. Now, I'm contending with rain soaked waste.
my bike search was frustrating because no one has a bike small enough for me and the manufacturers don't even have any to ship. Oh well, it's not the end of the world.
My only experience with drag is what I see on the Telly. The make up fascinated me.
I would pass on the salmon too. It's something I got carsick on as a child. That, and my mother was one of the world's worst cooks.
I LOVE smoked salmon! It's crabmeat I got sick on up in Maine a number of years ago; it was from a cheesy crabmeat concoction at a Chinese Buffet, but who knows if that was it, because I came down with the Norovirus, at the same time, just after flying up there in two different planes. It was a wretched experience! Crabmeat and cheese coming back up, vigorously, is not to be recommended!
Okay, today I am.....surprise....doing more laundry. I have gone through multiple manila envelopes from back in the day when Nannie kept track of everything and actually had it organized; but, alas, nothing too helpful from there. Like I said, I will probably find more in the long dresser when the stuff blocking it is moved out of the room.
Nannie's getting another frozen meal for supper, a Sesame Chicken Bowl at 4 minutes in the microwave, stir it, add some vegetable like peas, 2 + 1.2 more minutes, and it's done. At her age, I don't think the salt, etc, in a frozen meal is going to be the straw that broke the camel's back. I will probably make myself a sandwich on seeded rye bread....I do have some smoked salmon....I also have an avocado. Maybe join them or have 1/2 sandwich with salmon, and the other half- sandwich with avocado. Who knows!
We've spent the afternoon with Nannie watching two shows of How They Make It, then two programs on HGTV where houses are being re-done. Then it will be the local and network news, Funniest Home Videos, and then something to fill the last hour before she goes to bed. So the evening is planned, so to speak.
Speaking of laundry, I have to get the stuff outta the drier and put the next load in to dry. I'll wait on washing my pillow and comforter on another day.
Time to crank up the microwave.
G'day.
I have sheets in the dryer from yesterday. Guess I'll get them out sometime.
Hard to believe it's snowing somewhere. Never realized snow and dog poo were a problem. It's in the 80's here and very pleasant.
The holiday buffets at the beach resorts here have served both versions of eggs Benedict, with Canadian bacon and salmon. I remember my brother-in-law really liking the salmon version. I don't like seafood.
I've seen a lot of drag shows. Seems strange that men dressing up as very flamboyant and outrageous women lip synching to songs would be such a staple in the queer community but it is. My best friend became a drag queen in college and I went to his shows. He had a problem in that he was a terrible dancer so he did mostly ballads. He was proud of the fact he used his own long hair and not a wig. He went by the name Melanie Brooks. He died a couple of years ago. His sister said he was just found passed away. Probably a heart attack. He smoked. We had so much fun and were besties from Junior High onto college and after. But we lost touch after I left Atlanta.
After college he moved to Atlanta as did I, still did drag part time and worked in a dog shelter and had a tumultuous and violent affair with a transgendered man that he had a baby with. Crazy story since he was a gay as I was and feminine acting. I had no idea his boyfriend was trans until they had a baby. The transman eventually killed himself as he was mentally ill. He had a very close relationship raising his daughter and she made him a grandfather.
Not much going on here. Pottered about a bit, went to the gym, watched a movie. Hoping to go to bed early for my extra shift tomorrow. Like a dummy I drank a strong cup of coffee at 5pm without thinking. ugh

Ado I like Eggs Benedict but I'm not sure I would like them with smoked salmon
Stars it's good that the family is being so helpful, and good that you can remember the good times and not just the deterioration at the end
Tweety that sounds like an interesting book
Yesterday was a big improvement over the last few days. Left fairly early for a hike at a place I hadn't been to in a while, found a nice trail by the lake with some fall colors. Then came back and had lunch with dad as usual.
Got my normal evening reading done before heading to the fundraising gala. Met some new people and some I've met at previous events. They had an open bar with a dinner and raffles and a charity auction. Saw my first drag performance, was campy but fun. Later on they had a piano bar set up as well as dancing, but by then it was late so I headed home. By the time I had left they had just exceeded their fundraising goal
Today have to be at church early, going to usher and also make announcements for the vestry. Afterwards I'll do the cooking for the week, a chicken dish with wine and olives an artichokes. Might do some more research on car stuff too
Will be a cooler day in the mid 50s here, I think the rain should hold off
