Good morning!
I'm off today and flying home to see my parents tomorrow. Main job it to wash the dogs and get them to the sitter this afternoon. My brother in a law are taken them. This is my first time seeing him after his dog died in my care just a little while ago. Will be strange not having his dog there.
I don't like opera especially most aren't in English. I was obsessed in the mid 80's with Pie Jesu (Pious Jesus) from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem. It was a hit in the UK but not here. Every now and then I'll listen to it to this day and actually listened to it on the way home from work yesterday. I think it's my depression. LOL
Anyway my interested was renewed when a young kid on Britain's got talent sang it this year and went viral. His voice is absolutely angelic. It's below. I'll also post the original version that I played a lot in the 80's. (It's showing "video unavailable but has a link "watch on YouTube" that should work)

Opera can be difficult. I like to listen while doing chores. How can one not enjoy some of the most iconic arias? The music is very moving.
I like opera---Amadeus soundtrack is good, and I don't know a lot of the titles of the songs I do like, but there are various ones I will turn up if I hear them. Enrico Caruso's bio-film featured Mario Lanza, and with his big barrel of a chest, he can really sing! I enjoyed it because he obviously had a GOOD time singing! I also saw on you-tube once, someone was giving black kids a listen to Pavarotti for the first time, and one-by-one, they were absolutely, completely blown away by his voice.
I pulled out all of hubby's weapons and ammo and put them in the front 'formal' livingroom on a sheet on the sofa, and covered them up with a sheet. He has their cases and the boxes they came in, and a heavy canvas bag full of ammo, plus his gun-cleaning kit, a 'bullet-proof' vest and a strap-thingy to carry his Glock under his arm, like cops and detectives would, under a jacket. Lawsie, lawsie! Men and their toys! They are all covered with dust like you wouldn't believe. During his last two years he didn't go out target-shooting, but before that he knew a guy who let him target practice on his property. And he loved 'talking guns' with the neighbor who is going to take all of them; I dunno if that guy will sell them, or take them apart and sell pieces of them, but I trust him to do right by me. I sure as ______ don't know anything much about guns; hubby used to talk guns to me and I'd say "Uh-huh" and "Oh" and "Really?" He would sometimes preface it by saying, "I know this probably won't mean anything to you, but..." because he really wanted to explain what he knew and what he had, and why he was excited about it. (Anybody remember Grace Slick singing the line, "Doesn't mean s**t to a tree..." ? Well that's pretty much me, about guns.) I listened a lot because I knew he needed to talk and I was pretty much the only one here to listen! Anyway, that's one more thing accomplished for now.
It's time to get that Nannie-person up. ("Yippee", she said, with no enthusiasm.)
Speaking of yippee, when I have Momo's bedtime snack in my hand, I say to her in a high-pitched voice, "YIPPEE!", she jumps and turns in circles. So cute!
I guess I tend to be more low key in my musical choices and much more modern. I like. dance electronic and indie music. I don't like real over the top music like "And I'm Tell. You I'm Not Going" by Jennifer Hudson that everyone was so over the moon about. Meh...
Right now I'm obsessed with boygenius, an indie group comprised of three solo singers that formed a group, one a bisexual, one calls herself "queer", another a lesbian. I got all fanboy when I saw they got six grammy nominations the other day.

I got introduced to BoyGenius recently by Spotify. Good stuff. They were on SNL yesterday and really looked like they were enjoying life!
My kids and grandkids tease me because my Playlist can boomerang from Bowie to Bro Safari with lots of eclectic stuff inbetween.
Family members have dabbled in music with groups like
Family gatherings are loud and musical.

I didn't know that was last night, don't have cable but saw the vid. I have on vinyl all three of them separately was pleased when they formed this group.
I remember that song by Lighthouse. It's good.
Have you done the AI DJ at Spotify? My DJ is named "X" and what he picks for me is interesting. Right now it's playing "Nothing from Nothing" by Billy Preston. LOL

Maybe? I'm on my kids account and she set it up for me just recently. I know that YouTube asks me about AI when I search.

I saw Billy Preston perform with Ringo Starr's All Star Band years and years ago. " Nothing From Nothing" was a huge crowd - pleaser, got everyone on their feet ! ?
Tweety, those recordings of Pie Jesu were beautiful. And I like the boygenius song, too.
I had a Charlotte Church CD on which she sang Pie Jesu. Talk about an angelic voice! I miss all the Christmas music I had on CD-- Charlotte Church, Amy Grant, Jewel, Trans Siberian Orchestra. Who knows where they are now? I guess I should purchase them all in Amazon music or something like that, if I could find them.

I have that Jewel CD. I have a lot of Christmas music, some years I play it, some years I don't. This year I'm adding Cher who recorded a brand new Christmas Album. Getting it on vinyl just because. So I'm thinking this year is one year I'll listen to my music. Some years it depresses me and makes me lonely. So we'll see what my mood is. LOL
Cellist Hauser just made a new Christmas album I might add too. But really I don't celebrate Christmas but like the music. Go figure. I heard Christmas music for the first time yesterday getting some coffee at a gas station yesterday. I wonder if the free version of Spotify would let you listen to them.

Hi Tweety
Yesterday was pretty productive. Got outside in the morning for a hike. Got some groceries and had lunch with dad. Worked on next week's grocery list and watched Svengoolie, which was OK. Was listening to a bit of The Flying Dutchman opera on the radio. Normally I dislike opera, seems like a lot of pompous bellowing to me, but kinda liked this one. Have begun watching a version with English subtitles on YouTube
Today have to usher at church and then do the cooking. Have a little more shopping to do as well. Other than that it should be a pretty quiet day. Will check on the car, last I checked it had made it to St. Louis
Will be a bit warmer today, in the mid 50s
