Joe, I imagine the birds don't like to be out in the wind and the cold, same as us. How nice, when the weather is so cold, to come home to a warm house and a prepared crock pot meal! Hope the church budget meeting is not TOO long.
It should be 65 here. No rain forecast for awhile.
Have a good day!
Brrrrrr! I woke up curled up in a tiny ball under my down comforter. THAT'S when you know the house is tooooo cold! When I went down to touch up the thermostat, it was set at 65 degrees. And then I saw Nannie in her recliner curled up in a tiny ball, so I laid a blanket over her. I set the thermostat to 70 degrees to make the "icey" edge disappear. When hubby came in with her lunch, I thought he would say something about it being so warm in here. To my surprise, he turned it up to 72! It is 50 degrees outside, sunny and windy. We have been spoiled by all the 70 degree temps!
Nannie is chowing down on her lunch...with her eyes closed! When she got down to the last of her potato chips, she opened her eyes and started eating the chips with her spoon, and using the bottom of her glass of juice to push the chips onto the spoon.Fortunately she did not spill the juice! Hoping she'll go back to sleep as soon as I take the tray off her lap.
Ado, I know what you mean about travel, with the gma and having to take out the dogs. Then I pictured gma on a leash! ? Guess she'd have some choice words for that!
Joe, I don't seem to have any vertigo today, thank goodness!
Yeah, so yesterday, hubby fell off the wagon. I didn't ask and he didn't say, but I could tell by the slurring speech and the teetering and stumbling. And yes, the FALL that gave it away. This time he had not lifted his foot high enough on the top step (the staircase up to our rooms) and his toe (the big toe he had either broken or sprained two days ago) caught on the stair's old carpeting. Down he went into the hall and the open door to my room: KA-BOOM! At which point I let out a string of cusswords under my breath and took off upstairs to see what the damages were this time. He has been c/o the pain in his toe, but will not ice it, or elevate it, or even put some roll-on Lidocaine on it, so ppfftt!
I helped him get up using a footstool, and then got the basket of band-aids to staunch the bleeding of his elbow. He said, "I fell!" Uh-huh. I didn't say much of anything about it at all. He mentioned several times over the course of the evening how his toe had gotten caught on the carpet. I just said, in a neutral tone, "Uh-huh, that's what you said." I absolutely KNEW a fall would happen before the end of the day!
I'm not sure of the state of his state today, as the day is still young.
Think I'm going to read a magazine while he is in his recliner with the 02 on, and while Nannie finishes picking her teeth. (ugh!)
Ah, Stars, hang in there. I guess we couldn't expect a straight trajectory to super-sobriety. Still, it's frustrating. You're probably right to be noncommittal.
We are waiting for old friends of Hubs to drop by. Apparently they live in Kansas now and made a trip to Dallas and are on their way home. People I've never met.
I need to call my sister and find out more about their plans for next weekend.
The birds around here are changing. I saw swans fly over last week, and a big flock of geese honked by. Three Stellar Jays were squawking yesterday in a birch tree, probably scolding a squirrel. We call them "blue jays" but they a dark blue, with a black, pointy head. They are quite vocal, and territorial.
Cool and clear here. I rode my bike to the diner for breakfast and then home. My face was soooooo cold. I've been decluttering, sort of a constant task around here.
I need to call my sister, and dd too, to invite them for Thanksgiving. Dh wants to plan a menu, but I am fine with just the usual. He will cook enough to feed and army platoon, I'm sure. I am happy as long as I have my green-bean casserole.
Stars, can't say I'm surprised about your hubby, but I do wish for something better. Did he ever get the results of his abnormal tests or did he just decide he didn't want to know?
Dianah, did you guys get more precipitation ? I heard that the Sierras were getting lots of snow, which seems like good news.
Amo, I heard an interview with Weird Al on the radio, talking about his bio pic. He seems like a genuinely nice, funny man.
Joe, hats aren't too hard, if you get an easy pattern. It's sort of fun to knit "in the round" with double pointed needles. My MIL makes washcloths and hot pads for Christmas gifts.
j22, Nope, hubby never has made another appointment with the gastrologist, even though his PCP told him that he should go. Don't specifically know about "abnormal" test(s) results, because, well, he didn't go to the gut doc! So, since the results have not been reveaIed, I guess all is just peachy-keen within. ?Whatcha don't know can't hurt ya, huh??

Hi Tweety
Stars hope the vertigo settles down
Ado I sometimes want days where I don't have to do anything too
NJ22 I could see how that would be wearing
Dianah a pie crust cover seems a lot more convenient that foil strips
Was out bird watching yesterday morning, hardly saw any birds, wasn't out too long as it was windy and cold
Did some laundry, ran an errand or two, and met dad for lunch. Afterwards stopped at the yarn store for some supplies and suggestions on a next project. They said a hat, but I checked and most of the hat patterns I saw were too complicated, so I'm going to try 2 washcloth patterns instead
Watched the Svengoolie movie, watched most of it as it was OK but not great
Will get a crock pot recipe started before church, to be finished afterwards. Will stay for coffee hour
Tonight we have a 2 hour online Zoom meeting about the church budget. Hope it proves shorter than that
Going to be pretty cold today too, in the upper 30s
