Hello all!
We are up early (for us), to get the household pet chores done so we can be on the road by noon, for a practice. This would be in preparation for a 20-min Dec. 9 Christmas program. I fully intended by now to have practiced a lot and got the form down for the songs. Have practiced ONCE. Am really disappointed in myself, that I didn't do what I *should* have, but oh well. We will see how much of a train wreck we are, at today's practice. ?
Joe, we LOVE The Chosen! It gives color and texture to the scriptures, brings the characters alive. We feel it adheres fairly closely to scriptures, however there are some areas that make us wonder... As it is a narrative, NOT a documentary, creative license is taken. Sometimes we look at each other and say 'that was never in the scriptures. But it's plausible. Could have happened that way..." We have watched it several times, and still have to keep a kleenex box nearby for certain scenes. It is the most compelling and touching series we have seen -- not cheesy or Hollywood-ized like some others. I hope you enjoy it.
Last night I went through five small boxes of books that were sent to me, books of my sister's, sent to me after she died in March. The last box contained old photos, likely that she had handed down to her from when our Grandma died in 2001. I separated them into four piles: photos of me and mine, photos of my cousins and aunt/uncle (mom's sister and her kids), photos of the Australian contingent (mom's brother and his wife and kids), and photos mainly of Grandma and Grandpa (and, after Grandpa died, photos of her and her second husband, Grandpa Lew). Then there was left a large pile of unidentified photos: either they had nothing written on the back and I didn't recognize the subject(s) in the photo, or there was helpful writing on the back and I still didn't recognize the subject(s) in the photo! Gosh, what do I do with these???
For the most part, it was quite a trip down memory lane, seeing Grandma's house that we had many Thanksgiving and Christmases in, and where we stayed and played in the heat of summers in Northern California. There were a few photos of all us kids (and cousins), in their gangly pre-teen and teen years. Snapshots of weddings and later of chubby-cheeked toddlers.
I emailed my cousin to ask if she wanted some photos sent to her. She is one of three children of my aunt M, my mom's only sister. One of the three died last year, the other lives in Northern Calif. Aunt M is still alive, lives near Palm Springs in a retirement community. Obviously, we don't keep up with each other, I haven't seen her in probably 30 years. And I don't even know where to locate the Australian part of the family. The kids are our age, and likely parents are deceased. My sister was always the one who kept up with who lived where. But she is gone now.
We'll see what my cousin replies.
That's it for now. Have a good day!
dianah, I have a collection of photos given to me after my mother's sister died. There are several that I don't know the subject(s). I haven't decided what to do with them.
We learned this morning that Hubs' sister is moving to another facility because the one where she has been is closing. She is in hospice care now, too. She's bedridden and doesn't use her right arm. Her husband says she still eats well, listens to music, and looks around. She is only 67 but has had dementia for several years now. Their daughter is the niece that is stepson's guardian.
Stepson bombarded me with texts a couple of times this week.
Ah well, time to get it together for the day. There were 8 patients in the hospital Friday. I went to speak with one who was unhappy (with the telemed doc; she said everything and everyone else was great). I didn't check in with the hospital yesterday. Twin B worked all night but he is sleeping now.
Last night I was rebellious! I stayed up reading in bed until 2:20 AM! w00t! Slept well and got up around 11 AM.
Nannie got up at some point during the night and took off all of her wet incontinence 'protection', and they were strewn about here and there. And she also took all of her pants off their hangers and rehung them, stretched on the shoulders of the hangers by their waists, as if she'd already worn and wet them. But they were all dry. I asked her why she got up and re-hung her pants on the hangers, and she said "Did I? I don't know." So, since she had put on a thin pair of pants she NEVER wears, with NO pull-ups or pads.....yup, it's another laundry day.
I need to go out to get LARGE garbage bags for when I start pulling the clothes out of hubby's closet. Lots of stuff to donate! I found some more collections of papers to go through. That car title has got to be SOMEWHERE! I sure hope the town has another Free Shredding Day event SOON! I have several bags of things ready to be shredded, in the back of my car, and I'd like to get rid of them! Who knows how much weight I'd have to pay for if I took it all to UPS!
After the first load of laundry gets dried and I put the second load into the dryer, I'm going to go back upstairs to continue with my sorting, tossing, and putting away stuff. Last night during the commercials I ran up and hung all the washed, dried and folded clothes I had been putting in piles, on top of boxes on the floor. When I do a big clean-up project, it always looks even messier than it was.....until I get done. I've told y'all before I am not linear when I clean up stuff, I move between here and there as the mood hits. But I do have things loosely organized, even though it doesn't appear so. But no one is doing any 'inspections', so I don't have to take any grief from anybody.
It is a gray day , 51 degrees, no breezes. Good day to stay in, but I will have to go out to get milk, dog food, and a few odds and ends.
Okay. laundry is ready to be switched. I hope to sneak out the door without Momo yelling at me to come back!
Hey-ho-yippeee! I don't have to go out today, because SiL just called and she is coming over tomorrow at 1 PM to give Nannie a perm. It'll take "a couple of hours", she said, so I can do the re-distribution of things collected during the clean up.....donations to the women's shelter's store. Also, pick up some used books from there, so I don't have to spend $9.99 on a book that at one time used to be $5.99. Heck I remember when you could buy a paperback book for $1.25! Double-Heck, I may even go way out to the HFS and replace the small heat-in-the-microwave bags of Indian and Asian foods I found in the bottom/back of a kitchen cabinet (hubby's doin's) as they were all at least 2 years past the sell-by date, I was going to heat and eat the lemon rice something-or-other I found, until I saw how out-dated it was. I was afraid I might get Kooka-Monga of the Bingus if I ate it.
Welp, back to the laundry, etc!
Oh, I forgot the newest season of The Crown has been released. I'll look into that.
It was very chilly this morning, about 29 degrees, and yet my mind thought a bike ride was a good idea. It wasn't too bad getting to the breakfast diner, because I just roll down the hill about 1 1/2 miles to get there. But when I came out, the fog had moved in, shading out the sun, making everything seem colder. And I took a long route to get home, and I was cold! Fingers and toes numb, knees stiff. I had enough foresight to cover my ears and wear a mask, but brrrr. The sun is out now, and Im going to take the doggers for a walk. And we are finally, going to see The Holdovers. I've got some donate stuff to drop off tomorrow. I did some online shopping, and signed up for a different drug plan. Gad, I hate that retire seems to be a series of appointments, pharmacy runs, and thinking about insurance.
The University of Washington won yesterday, their first undefeated season since 1991. Go Dawgs! The game went down to the last seconds.
Gad, Annie, getting c. diff is rough. Hopefully it clears up quickly.
I inherited a huge cache of photos from my MiL, and they are just sitting in the box they arrived in. My eldest ds expressed interest in some in the past, I guess I'll ask him if he still wants to look through them.
Good evening.
I didn't post yesterday because it was a crazy day. They pulled a nurse so I was in charge with a full assignment, had a patient code and die, a patient fall, a nurse rushed to the ER with BP 220/120, combative patients, and throw in some total care incontinent patients and it was insane.
Today was sooooo much better.
My mother, being the full blooded born and raised in Germany German that she is has many organized photo albums. Many with pics of her and dad pre-kids (which wasn't long as she got pregnant before they got married). I went through them one of my visits. She also saved most of the cards her kids and grandkids sent her. I don't remember many of mine I sent her.
I survived three 12-hour shifts in a row, the middle one being hell. LOL
Off for three days.

Stars that's odd that they don't provide a schedule
NJ22 glad you found your debit card
Ado I'm glad her surgery went well, I hope the C diff resolves quickly
Went to the Arboretum yesterday morning, hiked for a while as it wasn't too cold. Stopped at their gift shop but couldn't find any ornaments for my tree that I liked. Afterwards dad took me out to lunch for my delayed birthday celebration. Went and got Christmas cards to send. Watched Outlander an skipped Svengoolie as the movie was dull
Today will do the cooking before church, after church I'll do what grocery shopping remains. Will watch the Crown, might also start watching The Chosen as my dad speaks highly of it
Has started snowing although little of it is sticking so far. Supposed to snow most of the day, which I imagine will reduce church attendance. Will be another fairly cold day in the mid 30s.
