Stars wish it was in the 60s here

Was a very busy day yesterday

Went for coffee then drove the 40 miles or so to the work site.  Was quite cold when I got there but warmed up after the work started, mostly cutting up and removing/burning buckthorn.  Went very well, all the other volunteers were very friendly.  Though was quite sore afterwards

Came home for a bit then drove to meet dad to carpool to my niece's musical, Moana.  Was one of the better ones they have done.  Then drove back, dropped dad off, and came home and went to bed.  Drove for more than 4 hours yesterday

Church today, then going to see A Chorus Line with J.  He'll be texting me this morning to say whether he's up to lunch beforehand.  Will start a crock pot recipe before going to bed

Will be a bit warmer today, in the upper 30s

Joe, enjoy A Chorus Line!  Sounds like fun!  You had quite a busy day yesterday!  I hope J can make it for lunch.

Hello to all!

We had a busy day ourselves, yesterday.  Set alarms for 6am, and got up to feed the cats, walk the dog, get dressed, load the instruments, and pick up fiddler, for the almost-one-hour drive to Desert Hot Springs church.  Arrived there at 10, warmed up a little in the pastor's study, then did our program for the church service.  Our friend J joined us, who is a phenomenal guitar player and has written many gospel songs.  Our friend C, who retired in 2021 from pastoring the church, joined us on banjo.  So there were SIX of us "up front," and making a joyful noise.  Program was not without its technical glitches, but all in all, we had a wonderful hour, worshiping with the small and enthusiastic congregation.

Afterwards, we loaded the instruments in the cars and met at a nearby Indian restaurant, and enjoyed a nice chat and yummy food.  Our friend C joined us, which was special.  We just had a nice, nice day doing music and visiting.

Sure slept well last night, too!  Guess we were tired!

Not much planned for today.  May go get some instant coffee and then bake a chocolate cake - got the hankering for it.  I did the laundry on Friday, so just need to change sheets and towels.  Dh will do the online jam.  It's been clear and sunny and 70 degrees, which is very nice!  Rain is forecast on Tues and Wed, though.

Have a good day!

Good morning. We had a long day yesterday. We spent about 4 hours at the trail race that DIL ran, as we moved between 3 different points to cheer her on. We hiked up a trail about a mile initially, waited a bit, then back down, and waited a short while. Then we drove to a convenience store for snacks and water, and then waited at the finish for her. She finished a 50K (32 miles) over some steep terrain and came away with sore legs and a blister on one foot. Then we stopped for Mexican takeout then home to eat and I fell asleep. And I am sore today! I am including a picture of a waterfall that we passed as we climbed to the first spot. We just go home from breakfast at a local, but not our usual, diner. It was okay, but I miss the crispy waffle I usually get. Our favorite place is reopening after being closed for 4 weeks for badly needed renovations. Today I plan to work in my garden, if my sore legs permit.

Joe, that sounds like a productive day. Enjoy A Chorus Line!

Dianah, I am so looking forward to warmer weather. It sound like you had a lovely time.

It is overcast and in the mid 40s. Rain predicted for tonight.

Joe, Don't envy our today's temperature! It was 27 degrees earlier this morning, and I think the high will be in the mid-40's. BUT, by Friday it is supposed to get up near 80 degrees. YIKES! Anyway, at least today it is, YES! ? Brightly SUNNY ?!

No laundry to do today, thank goodness, but I do have to make a grocery-run. I swear, hubby has become addicted to tomato juice; he goes through a six pack every two days. I suppose that's better than the Pepsi Zero he has guzzled all day, forever. Supper tonight will be something from the freezer.

Anyway, I guess I'll go now to the store and get it over with.

Joe, that sounds like a good group to participate with. Y'all with your full Saturdays make me look like a sloth. I was really tired Friday night. I'm blaming the blood donation Thursday plus not sleeping well yet being up early Friday for the MRI. Didn't get to do yoga Thursday due to an impromptu meeting at work.

Made a *big* grocery trip yesterday with Hubs. Went to church this morning. Twin A is working. Hubs and I are doing laundry, straightening the house today and packing for Arizona. Would worry less about the house but we do have the lady named Rose coming to take care of Gma during the days. She is kind of scared of cats and here we are with 3 of them. Sam is a fraidy cat and will hide. Turbo will hide away, too. But Binx will meow and aggressively want to be fed or to be let outside (we only allow this when we can supervise). I hope it will all be OK.

Hubs is mad because I said something last night about his mom sitting at the table grumbling "she's a sh!t@ss." He says she has no idea what's going on around her and I shouldn't take it personally. I don't, exactly, take it personally but it still gets old. I will refrain from muttering under my breath "she's an old bat".

I've lost nearly 8 lbs so far but because I had gained some I'm still not even back to my prior baseline. Patience is key, I guess.

When I went out to shop, I drove down the road where there is supposed to be an ***'t living/mem.care place, which was recommended to us by our hairdresser who had her mom there. I didn't see any obvious-looking nsg home, but I just read it is in an old church bldg. Next time I will look for the street #, which I got here on the internet. None of these places will give you a cost, because it depends on what services she needs. I believe it is quoted for most places around here.....$4,500 to $5,000....now I have to go back and see if that was a quote for a week or a month? It did say they had respite care, but I can't find anything on-line about it. Hubby and I should do a walk-in or make an appt to talk w/ whoever does admissions and finances. I have a terrible feeling that just about every memory-care facility will cost up-the-wazoo. We definitely need a financial advisor! If hubby doesn't get on the stick, we will be stuck here longer than forever.

I also have told him several times a day that he has GOT to see about getting his driver's license renewed or re-issued! And then there is the Ford, which is out of gas, has a dead battery and the check-engine light came on a lot but no one has ever been able to fix that. Either get it fixed, or call that "We-Buy-Any-Car- - - -Any, Any, Any!"  place, that advertises on TV. They will come pick it up and pay you on the spot. Not that we'd get a heck of a lot of money for the Ford, but it would get rid of it. But, now he is sitting in MY car and listening to the radio/running the heater, and the gas goes down fast. I had to put $30 in today, which took the car from just under an 8th of a tank to just below a full tank.

I wish hubby would stop being so LAZY!

Can't believe the abbreviation for "assisted living" was *** smacked out of my post! I'll try to remember to type full words!

Nannie and I had stuffed bell-peppers and hubby had a beef-pot-pie.

I used to babysit a little boy for a wealthy couple who I ENVIED because they had a bunch of different Stouffer's meals and side dishes in their freezer. My job was to heat up the mac'n'cheese for the kids supper. My mother always said that Stouffer's was too expensive, so that's why I thought it was food for the rich. But, of course, it would be way too expensive to feed a family of 6 people!

We heated up a party size tray of chicken enchiladas for dinner today. ??
