Stars wish it was in the 60s here

Was a very busy day yesterday

Went for coffee then drove the 40 miles or so to the work site.  Was quite cold when I got there but warmed up after the work started, mostly cutting up and removing/burning buckthorn.  Went very well, all the other volunteers were very friendly.  Though was quite sore afterwards

Came home for a bit then drove to meet dad to carpool to my niece's musical, Moana.  Was one of the better ones they have done.  Then drove back, dropped dad off, and came home and went to bed.  Drove for more than 4 hours yesterday

Church today, then going to see A Chorus Line with J.  He'll be texting me this morning to say whether he's up to lunch beforehand.  Will start a crock pot recipe before going to bed

Will be a bit warmer today, in the upper 30s

ALF - Assisted Living Facility

I had lentils that I had cooked earlier in some veggie broth and some kamut.  Sprinkled with some olive oil.  Some veggies on the side.  Simple but good.  I have a big bowl of it and will get some more meals out of it.

Kamut is a wheat grain that I'll use occasionally instead of rice.

No Stars - ALF with memory care runs around 6k per month, but you also supply all the adult diapers etc.

This was in Texas (had my MIL in one the last 3 years), but it is a fairly universal cost unless you go fancy.

It's about $4,000 a month here in Florida for an ALF,  but I think it depends on the level of care needed, such as memory care, and the facility.  For the most part you have to be pretty independent and able to spend time on your own.  My late father in law was in one and was often found on the floor.  His pension and Social Security covered most of it.

OY! Fancy-schmancy ain't happening here!

Nannie's not exactly independent, but she can do things if she has to. Like change her pants. Of course just as often as 'changing', she just adds another #6 long-length pad ON TOP OF the wet ones. And she makes her bed OVER the wet chux, then sits down on the made bed and lets the wetness seep up through the covers as the wet from her pull-ups/pads soaks down through the covers. THAT'S real helpful! ? and that's all I'm gonna say about THAT!
