Hello!
Joe, enjoy your Christmas dinner at the church!
Tweety, my eyes popped when I read about your finding the dobutamine gtt!! NOT a pleasant surprise! I assume it was at a fixed rate, at least. Good you got off on time!
No Stars, I hope you have no injuries that revealed themselves the day after your tumble. Be careful, girl!!
We were up early (for us) yesterday, and got pet chores done and delivered ourselves to Oak Glen by 10am. We helped with music for a special Christmas Sabbath School, held at a private home. They have a lower level open for such meetings -- I'd say about 75-80 ppl attended! There were multiple families participating in music or readings of the season. A fire crackled in a large hearth, and there were simple decorative touches here and there. On a large slab in front of the fireplace and to the side was a carved nativity scene, made of dark wood. It was beautiful! Made in Malawi, where these ppl go frequently on humanitarian trips.
A funny story: the owner of the house is CEO of a large hospital system, and his wife revealed that somehow, one of them released the Sabbath School invitation/reminder in email that, instead of going out to a few hundred people, went out to ALL 18,000 of the hospital employees/system!! They received about a hundred emails with regrets, and they were quite nervous as to how many ppl would show up to the Sabbath School! Didn't know if they should expect 200 or 2000!! AND it was a potluck after the program, so hopefully they would have enough food for all! As I mentioned, though, about 80 ppl attended, which strained the room a little but not like 2000 would have! AND, one of the readings talked about unexpected surprises, which was an interesting coincidence.
After that program, we left to have a band lunch at a Greek cafe. Dh and I drove home to tend to the pets and I grabbed some potluck food I had made the day before. Then we drove 30 min away to a Christmas jam, held by the Southwest Bluegrass Association at a member's home. It started at 3, but by the time we got done with pet cares and left, and drove there, it was 5pm. They had already dug into the potluck, but I put the food out anyway!
Choice of two places to pick: One was outside, with a blustery wind and temps in low 60's (and dropping). There was a nice heater in place but the wind kept blowing it out! Second choice was inside a large garage, and we planted ourselves there. It was kinda too large of a jam, but we didn't want to jam outside, LOL! So some of the songs took a long time to get around the circle, as a lot of the players wanted to take breaks.
We stayed till 10:45 -- picked for five hours! The size of the jam changed a few times during the picking, as folks left or came in. We closed down the jam, ending with only 8 ppl playing, and the hosts as grinners. It was good to see so many friends, and dh enjoyed himself. It had been a long time since we had attended a jam, as we had cancelled the festival we were going to in November. Needless to say, we both slept in this morning!
Today will be a quiet day. Fridge is full, I don't need to get groceries. Car needs gas, may go out and get that.
Here is the nativity scene:
Have a good day!
Once again, I posted my morning post for today, at the tail end of yesterday's posts. And just now I wondered if today was Tuesday or Wednesday, but my phone and this laptop both tell me that it is Sunday!
The knuckles on my right hand (at the base of the index and middle fingers) get more swollen and achey as the day goes on. Since I am right handed it is hard to remember to try using my left hand a little bit more! But even just typing on the laptop makes it flare up some. I have affixed a capsaicin patch across the back of my right hand, hoping it will dull down the pains.
5 PM and growing dark outside...the sun that is not shining, is setting somewhere behind the clouds. Nannie has just let out with a snore that half-way woke her up. Since 'the dreaded supper question" is approaching, I will wake her up about 5 minutes before supper's ready to be served. SiL had dropped off a large jar of stew the other day, so I suppose the easiest thing to do would be reheating that, and maybe make a grilled (or not) cheese sandwich.
It's cold and damp. Yuck. Haven't accomplished much. I've been trying to look up reasons the fireplace fan isn't coming on. The repair guy came last week, charged $200 to reconnect 2 wires that were loose, and replace 4 AA batteries under the fireplace. The fire was coming on and the fan working, and then 2 days later, it quit. So we put in brand new batteries and the flame comes on, but no fan.
Youngest ds brought the Christmas tree in its box into the living room. Now he's gone to the grocery store to get the fixin's for tacos. Im sure not motivated to decorate.
Dianah, that is a lovely Nativity scene. 5 hours of picking! That makes my fingers sore just thinking of it.
NoStars, I hope no more ouchies arise from your tumble. Good plan not to wake your housemate until necessary.
Joe, our birds seem to scarce with all our rain, although I did see some swans yesterday.
Ah, I remember having a little kefuffle over dobutamine with a cardiologist one evening. Our floor did eventually start accepting them, but only at a fixed rate and mainly for comfort in end-stage heart failure. My former work husband eventually was on continuous dobutamine at home, while waiting for his heart transplant.
Joe, hope you had a good time at the Christmas dinner.
dianah, that's a beautiful nativity. Sounds like a nice place, glad everything worked out as far as the number of guests.
Stars, hope your hand feels better soon.
We've had a quiet day. The frosting for the birthday cake had a LOT of butter in it and I'm blaming that for my icky stomach today that really has me feeling rather bad. Still no tree up but at least we have a plan for where to put it.
After a week of treatment Gma's eye still looks uncomfortable and she occasionally mutters about it in between her other mutterings. I suggested that Hubs make an appt with her doctor and he just replied that she has an appt on the 20th. (I.e. another week away).
I think I'm going to take a day off this week to get some Christmas shopping and shipping and stuff done. I'd like to have company. Maybe Twin B will go along.
G'day.
Stars, glad you didn't get hurt worse. Hope you BIL is okay and is discharged soon.
Happy birthday to the twins. Hope your stomach feels better Ado.
Work was variety busy. I only had one patient and was in charge and discharged him early. Naturally, I get an admission towards the shift change, but got it done. Had to pass on a blood draw on her.
I'm off for three days. No decorating or shopping for me. As always, I'm not celebrating Christmas but am listening to my large collection of Christmas music.
Ado Annie said:I gave Gma a cool washcloth, hoping it might help her eye feel better. She just hollered that it was wet.
Reminds me of an old back-country woman who complained to me about her home health aide: "Weyull, that girull, swarped my back wif a cold, soppin' cloth an' called it a bath!"

Stars I hope your BIL is discharged soon
NJ22 glad that the rain didn't start until after the race
Tweety that was a major oversight on the part of whoever gave report
Ado glad the cake turned out well
Took the new car in to be checked out yesterday morning. Everything looked fine, although it was due for it's 30,000 mile service, which was done. Hopefully won't have to spend on this car again for a while
Got a rental and went out for a hike and to do a little birdwatching, but there weren't many birds out. Probably because it had rained a lot in the early morning and was windy
Rest of the day was quieter, got the Christmas gifts wrapped and the Christmas cards sent out and ran an errand or two. Skipped the Svengoolie movie and watched Don Giovanni instead, story is OK but liked the music, which is surprising since Mozart is not a favorite of mine
Today will usher at church then come home and do cooking for the week. Then back to church for the Christmas dinner. Thankfully it' catered so I won't have to bring anything
Will be much cooler today, in the mid 30s but at least the rain has stopped
