Stars right now I have no idea for projects, just want to get good at the basics

NJ22 here's hoping the cardioversion helps her

Was hot and humid yesterday, so I wasn't out bird watching for very long.  Still came home and made the cornbread as the kitchen was fairly cool  still

Had lunch with dad, he's planning on a reunion for next Summer.  Hopefully he'll get a good response for that

Practiced knitting, think I'm finally getting the knit stitch, though I need to practice more.  Then I need to practice the purl stitch and I should be ready for projects

Watched  most of Svengoolie and worked on the shopping list for the  coming week

This  morning have  laundry and church and then lunch with J.  Afterwards I'll do the cooking, do some CEUs, and will find time for some more knitting

Will be cooler  today,  in the lower 80s, with rain likely

Hello all!

I didn't sleep well last night, and was up at 7, as we are getting ready to head up to Oak Glen to do more music for Old West Days.  Then we will have early dinner with the band, and THEN I can be home!  Will enjoy going to bed tonight!!

Should be same temps as on Friday: 80 degrees, and hopefully some breezes.  There is lots of shade where we're playing, so that's good.

Tweety, any new news about your mom?

Joe, do you eat the cornbread by itself or ???  Good you and J can get together!

Have a good day!

I made cornbread last night. I guess Joe's mention of it just got the idea stuck in my mind. Turning on the vent over the oven helped to keep the kitchen from getting too hot. I grilled some tri-tip steaks on the barby, nuked some broccoli in the microwave and put out some mixed salad greens. Not too bad for lack of planning. It's another nice, warm day today with a gentle breeze, about 80 and not so dang humid. Did a nice 10 mile bike ride this morning. Got the back yard grass cut and pulled some weeds. I need to change out the sheets. We invited dd and her boys over for dinner, no idea if they are coming or not.

dh couldn't find any underwear in his size in any local stores. I suggested ordering online and picking it up in stores and he is resisting. He is big on buying local, but if the stuff you want to buy is available what are you going to do? I figure its a compromise to at least order it delivered to a store.

I predict a bad mood to descend on our house this week. Dh is having a colonoscopy and he is to start MOM twice a day for next three days tomorrow. And then he takes the "golytely" prep Wednesday night for procedure Thursday morning. I predict he is going to complain, a lot. In addition to eliminating all seeds, grains, nuts and corn, this seems like overkill. But I just remind him, he doesn't want to redo if it was an inadequate prep. My tummy hurts just thinking about it.

Hey y'all~

Watching another ballgame and Braves are behind by 4 in the 5th inning.

Our neighbor came over to mow our lawn, and I had to close the drapes in the den so Nannie's very presence right there indoors, wouldn't inflame his libido. The fact that he can't see through the reflection of the bright, sunny yard on the glass doors, and therefore cannot see HER, nor does he even LOOK in her direction, doesn't matter. smh. What an ego she has. She thinks every male is  itching to get into her pants. Hubby murmured to me: "The pants, pull-ups and pads that are urine-soaked are soooo sexy on a 92 year old woman, he just wouldn't be able to restrain himself." I had to go upstairs pretending I was coughing so I wouldn't laugh out loud!

Hubby's bandages are all off, except for his little finger in a finger-splint. He's picked most of the scabs off, of course. When he went to a drugstore and asked the girl at the register where he could find a splint, she said, "What's a splint?" (Uh-oh!)

Wish this coming Wednesday was the day our first SS check comes in, but that's not until NEXT Wednesday. UGH. Skating on thin financial ice for a week+ is NO fun.

The score has gone up to 5-2 (in the 7th) but we are still behind. OH WELL!

Jeepers, I have to finish up the two loads of laundry. Glad I remembered THAT!

Later~

Poor young girl who frequently stays w/her boyfriend across the street (who is living with his step-grandfather)....came over and told us her grandmother was hit by a car. She was a perfectly healthy 70 y.o. who had decided to quit her job at Walmart, and got a job at Food Lion or CVS. She was coming out of the store with her new ID pin and company polo-shirt, because she was going to start work tomorrow. She stepped off the curb when a teenage boy, who was driving way too fast, hit her so hard it threw her onto a parked car and then she hit the pavement headfirst. After they got her in the ambulance, they took her right to ER, x-rayed her, finding two pelvic fractures, then had to intubate her before dealing with the fracture; now she also has pneumonia, and is in a coma. They don't think she'll make it. // That girl, I think, just turned 18, and this grandmother was the only one in her family that treats her well. Her dad is a lush, her mom is hateful; starts an argument with the girl, she frequently tells her she wished she'd never had her! Her uncle (her mom's bro) sexually molested her, and when she told her parents, it only p.o'd her mother who turned against her even more, and her dad told her she was a damn liar. The grandmother who is in the hospital, was the only relative who treated her well. She's had a rough life. So sad to hear of yet another blow to her emotional life.

That's so sad Stars.

Stars, what a sad story. I hope there's something good in that girl's future.

We picked up Chinese food last night. There isn't any locally but we drove to the big town so I could get a baby shower gift for the hospital's administrative assistant.

I went to the wildlife rehab today and fed young Mississippi kites. They get a commercial "predator food" that is ground mystery meat. Not very apperizing to me but they seemed to enjoy it. Then I folded some laundry and came home to prepare a Hello Fresh meal (mozzarella and herb chicken). I need to get back in the habit of going to church. No one will go with me (Hubs would if we didn't have Gma to deal with). Choir will start up again soon so I'll have some extra motivation.

Hello all!

nursej22, oooooo, no fun for your dh.  AND, no fun for you, on the receiving end of prep mood.  Hope prep and procedure are smooth and turn out to be negative.

Awwww, No Stars, that is so sad about the grandma and her granddaughter!  How can ppl be so mean to their own family???  Suppose it's a lifetime of habits and no insight, and no DESIRE to change.

Joe, how was church and lunch with J?

Hello Tweety and Ado.

Well we are home now from doing music.  It was warmer than on Friday (maybe 85 degrees), and HUMID!  Big storm clouds rolled over the mountain, to threaten the Old West Days, but while we got heat and humidity, there was no rain.  We played twice, 45min to an hour each time.  They had tomahawk throwing, candle-making, a painting class, panning for gold, a little "store" with period costumes and patterns and accessories, an apiary vendor (bee-keeping), and several short lectures in the Poker Tent.  There was a Morse Code demonstration booth, and a Draft Horse demonstration inbetween the music.  A one-man fiddler played (he played at Disneyland for 32 years, we had met him there), and Code of the West group presented a skit and also a comparison of citified gentlemen's clothing, VS Out West clothing.  There were also several "camps" set up, to depict a period camp site -- including two bivouac army tents set up by two men in WWI uniforms and kit!

It was all very fun, and we are tired from schlepping instruments back and forth, and playing.  The band met for an early band dinner at our favorite steakhouse, and had a nice winding-down time.  Then we followed fiddler and her hubby to their house to pick figs, ripe on their tree!  Met their six chickens (I still have eggs from them), visited with the dog...

AND, now we're home.  I'm ready for a SHOWER and some relaxing time with my feet elevated, reading a book or watching another Time Team episode.

Have a good evening!
