Joe, how disappointing to drive all that way (with the obstacles encountered), only to find no parking?? Especially if you REALLY wanted to see/hear the concert! Hopefully church goes well. String quartets are nice!
Tweety, I agree, I think your unit is considered a revolving door, and that's just the way it is. Now, the entitled person? Pffffffttttt! I would outwardly do my best to accommodate, but inwardly I would be sticking my tongue out at her! I hope today goes better.
I made an eggplant casserole yesterday, modifying the recipe. It ended up with more eggs and I added some cream (that's all I had, for "milk"), so it's higher in fat and cholesterol than I prefer. But, it didn't throw me off the day's calorie count. Dh liked the recipe, and will likely share leftovers with him. I found three South Beach Diet-approved soup recipes. I will make one in the next couple days, and make enough for us both to eat for a couple meals. Oh, and since I modified the recipe, I calculated all the calories, protein, fats, fiber, and carbs. It was actually kinda fun, and empowering. So, I know I can do that, LOL!
It is sunny and promises to be warm today. We will head out in a couple hours, to the Hymn Sing, picking up fiddler (who is playing piano for the event). Looking forward to it!
Have a good day!
Gouda Aphtahnoon, you'n's~
SiL came over at 1 PM to give Nannie a shower and 'do' her hair. I thought she was going to take Nannie to her house, but no, not today. She did say she will come over and get Nannie on Tuesday, and "us gals will go gallivanting," she told Nannie. I had time to run to the store for 2 items, and then when I got back, she left.
The front of both hips and the back of my right hand are hurting today....may be the barometric pressure, may just be me. I was bragging recently how I haven't had a lot of pain for several weeks, and I guess that was taunting the gypsies. I had planned on doing things upstairs to straighten out the mess, but I dunno. I will wash the dishes. I actually COOKED supper the other night so there are pots and pans to wash as well as the usual juice glasses, "sporks and foons", and dog food plates.
Momo wants me to get my fingernails done, but she may have to wait another week because this week will be a "holding my financial breath" kind of week.
3 PM and Nannie is falling asleep (good!). I am going to 'contemplate my navel', as the saying used to go. Then maybe I'll feel like doing the dishes.
Hi Folks.
Gosh Joe, that would be frustrating to go through all that and not find parking. There is so much construction around here, that I find I need to almost double my calculated travel time. And yes, I have to deal with a pesky train from time to time. Im started to avoid the interstate at times, because it is only 2 lanes in each direction, and freq. accidents shut it down daily. I need to go to Seattle in the am, so hopefully that traffic is smooth.
Dianah, I've done the South Beach diet in the past, and liked many of the recipes. I have been trying to cut back and eat healthier, and I find just tracking and logging calories to be helpful. The app I use will show me the macros, and deduct exercise calories, which is good incentive for me to get up and move. You, Tweety and Joe are inspiring me.
We had meatloaf for dinner last night, and I left the food on the table because youngest ds got home and I thought he was going to eat. I went in the other room, and the dogs got on the table, knocked off the food and dh got very upset. The dogs are very food oriented and I feel somewhat responsible, but I was not the one sitting 8 feet away from the table.
It is raining again, but I did get a nice walk done, coming home from breakfast at the diner. I've straightened out a cupboard, and threw some stuff in the donate pile. And I mended some clothes. Now we are watching/listening to a Supreme Court case heard earlier this week, and the doggos are snoozing in my lap.
Joe, I'm sorry you missed the concert after a valiant effort to get there. How frustrating!
J22, I get it about the dogs.
Dory did not remain calm as storms passed through all night. We were fine -- just rain and noise-- but other areas of Oklahoma were hit hard, including a nursing home and hospital in Marietta. The only deaths so far were 2 in Holdenville, but that includes a 4-month-old. Most of the downtown area of Sulphur is destroyed. Sulphur is near what used to be Platte National Park and is now the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It has mineral springs that smell like sulphur, hence the name of the town. It's a pretty area. My mother had an aunt who lived in Sulphur and we used to visit. That's where we had the last reunion for my mom's family, too.
We're prepping the house for the heat treatment. I'm slow 🐌.

Stars the constant laundry must get tiring, not sure what else you can do
NJ22 hope that once he gets the CPAP he uses it consistently
Tweety that is an awful lot of admissions
Ado glad Dory is doing better
Yesterday was busy. Bird watching in the morning, then the cat to the vet for a blood test, then the dentist for the mouth guard. This one was made of soft plastic, although the dentist will make another one for me from hard plastic. Then lunch with dad
Drove to the concert last night, delayed by construction, slow drivers, a freight train, and a religious procession at a local Catholic university. Still got to the concert before it started, but realized there was no parking. Figured this being the suburbs it wouldn't be an issue. Drove around a bit and tried a parking garage nearby but couldn't find a thing. Concert had already started so I headed home
Didn't sleep well last night, stomach was a bit upset and I felt strangely warm, although I had no fever
Today have cooking before church. In the afternoon I'm going to help with set up and take down for the string quartet playing at the church, so I'll spend a fair amount of time there today. Hopefully won't be too tired
Will be another warmer day in the mid 70, rain should stop soon and hold off until the evening
