Dianah hope you sleep better tonight

Stars sounds like a productive day, sorry about the mess

Tweety glad work was OK despite the fall

Ado I hope you feel better

Yesterday left pretty early for breakfast, then finished the packing and left earlier than planned.  One the way home stopped and did some birdwatching, so the day wouldn't be a total loss.

Afterwards came home and unpacked.  Then went to a local pickleball court and played 3 fairly short games.  Oh my God, it was exhausting, like when I played tennis and raquetball in college, not the laid back game I'd heard described.  So intense I had some shortness of breath and chest tightness, and a little exercise induced asthma later.   Did not enjoy that.  Will try to find some less intense games, but it may be those are to be found during the day when the retired people play.  Given that I'm also not a sports person pickleball may be a dead end for me

Rest of the day was quiet.  Watched Svengoolie and did some prep for cooking this morning

Today will be at church a bit early as I'll be assisting.  Will prepare a soup before church and bake some fish when I get back.  Otherwise it will be a fairly quiet day

Also planning to change my fall travel plans, since it seems that I don't enjoy travel, apart from spending time with family.  If she's unable to go to Milwaukee this September I'll plan to spend some time in the city instead, and plan to visit some places I don't normally go

Will be a rainy day today, in the low 50s like yesterday

Hello all!

Joe, wow, I have heard pickleball can be competitive as well as a laid-back sort of game.  Depends on the players.  Hope you can find a group that is compatible with you.  I, too, watched Svengoolie, though I tuned in somewhere in the first third.  I did get the gist, though.  I did NOT like the ending.  Very unsatisfying, for me.  But hey, good try, LOL!  It was entertaining, at least!  I hadn't realized before how much trivia the host imparts during his (what seem to be) frequent intermissions.

I didn't nap much yesterday, and though I laid down twice to try to sleep, I managed to rest, at least.  We have an outing planned for today, which we are getting ready for.

Sadly, the eagles are beginning to withdraw from intensive nest duties.  They now realize the eggs are no longer viable.  Very sad, but that's nature.  I have tuned into two other eagle cams and enjoy seeing those babies getting fed and nurtured.  One is on a windy crag on Catalina Island, off the California coast ("🎶Twenty-six miles across the sea, 🎵Santa Catalina is a'waitin' for me, Santa Catalina, the island of romance, romance, romance, romance...") and the other is near the Northern California town of Redding.  I know there are other bald eagle cams around the country, too.  I enjoy this peek into their lives.  🙂

Tweety, I hope today's shift isn't bad.

Ado, enjoy your trip!  Am crossing fingers that the cloud cover lifts at just the right time for you to see the eclipse!  We have SoCal friends who have traveled to Texas and are driving in a rented RV to park, hoping to see the eclipse.

Have a good day!

As much of a mess as I had here with the laundry (and I haven't gotten up yet, so that bunch of laundry has yet to be tackled).....my sister up in Maine had it much worse. The snow and rain was pretty much continuous in her town, and the whole town was a MESS!  Fortunately she had filled the gas tank in her car, so the car is where they went to warm up a little and eat their meals. They had 2 + 1/2 days without any power, heat, water and no access to the road, because a tree had fallen down across the driveway. Her plow-guy couldn't get onto their road from either end due to the snow. Finally, yesterday, the plow guy came back and got the lower part of their drive cleared, and brought his two sons-in-law to help chainsaw the tree across the drive (for only $100 instead of the $900 they had to pay a pro the last time this happened) , and finished the plowing up to their house; he even dug out their car, AND brought up her mail from the mailbox at the end of the driveway. He said the power companies were out having fallen trees and repairing downed lines, so she was happy when the power came back on! She said it was still raining, and the lower end of their property was muddy and mushy. I'm glad they live up on a hill, so even as things continue to snow/rain, at least they don't have to worry about getting flooded as things melt.

So, I'm going to go down and get Nannie up, start the laundry up again, and maybe later I can take the shower I've been meaning to take for the past 2-3 days.

I'm CLEAN! Got showered and shampoo'd, dried my hair, got dressed, and now I feel more human.  Now I have to put the white load into the dryer, and rewash the dark load to see if I can get more lint off that load, and then I will switch the loads and re-wash the white stuff......RINSE AND REPEAT! and REPEAT! I sure hope the machines do the trick because I don't feel like taking tape and/or going over all the clothes with a lint remover brush. Wish I had a lock on the washer so Nannie couldn't dispose of any more of her incontinence products in there. GADS!

Hullo. I'm feeling a little more productive than yesterday, when other than a jog and a dog walk, I did a whole lot of nothing. Oh, I did pull about a bucket of weeds, but my knees were complaining, so I didn't do as much as I wanted. And my knees and hips continued to complain. Today is better. I rode my bike about 10 miles, despite the sprinkles and a gusty wind. I got passed by a pileated woodpecker who then landed on a tree next to the road, so I got a nice look at him. Breakfast was meh. The waffle maker at the diner was broken, so I had French toast that was dry and tough. I just put 2 loaves of bread in the oven, trying an oatmeal bread recipe. When that comes out of the oven, I'll take the dogs for a walk. I'm proud of youngest ds, as he has been watching his diet and going to the gym, and walks with me. He's lost about 15 lb and is hoping that we can do more challenging hikes this year.

Joe, that is disappointing that pickleball wasn't more enjoyable , especially all the effort you put in to find matches. When I would tag along with dh on his buying show trips, I was often on my own during the day, and I did a lot of exploring. One of my favorite cities to visit was Chicago! Great food, amazing art, and very nice people.

Dianah, I've been peeking in the eagles too. We have a few around here, but I don't think there are any nests with cameras. They must have some successful hatches, because I will see young ones without white heads, from time to time.

I dreaded falls when I worked in the hospital. So much potential for injury, so much documentation, and often an uncomfortable convo with the hospitalist & family as to why I let that happen, but knowing there were no sitters available.

Annie, fingers crossed for clearing skies. Even so, you will experience the eery darkness, the birds falling quiet, and the dramatic temperature drop. At least, that is what I remember from 2017.

The monster-lint-explosion was conquered by putting EACH load (one darks, and one whites) through FIVE washes and FIVE rounds in the dryer. Voila!  [Hmmph.]

I could go all the rest of the year without doing any more laundry, but that is highly unlikely, soooo.....
