Dianah glad you're getting mail again, hopefully nothing got stolen

Stars that is annoying, wonder if using the closed captioning might help when the sound isn't working

Thanks for the picture Tweety

Ado hope you can find some time to read

Got started early yesterday morning to get the car into the shop and get the rental in time to drive out to meet up with the environmental group.  However there was a delay in getting the rental, then I found they had almost completed the tire rotation and  all the various checks.  So I cancelled the rental and just waited a few minutes more and the car was done

Met the environmental group a bit late, we were cutting back sumac on a prairie site.  Only 5 of us, probably a longer drive for many of them, who I think tend to live on the north side of the city, and the expected rain.  Did rain a bit intermittently,  then more continuously near the end, so we ended a bit early.

Went home and changed and met dad for lunch, then came home exercised and watched Svengoolie, which was OK but a bit slow

Have noticed, with the various groups I'm part of, that I tend to relate better to people my age or older than those significantly younger, like those in the environmental group.

Today will go to church a bit early to help get coffee hour set up.  Might have time for a walk  before church,  after church it's expected to rain most of the day.  Will do a little cooking  aftewards

Will be a bit colder today, in the upper 40s

Good morning all.

Lovely picture, Tweety. How nice to have a less than chaotic shift. And someone to answer the phone? Wow!

Joe, I hope you didn't get too wet working with your environmental group. It's looks like your temps really dropped.

Dianah, your cute little plant looks very happy. I was guessing it was either a sedum or a kalanchoe. Those are considered house plants here, so how nice to have that color outside. I understand there is quite a bit of mail theft around here. So far, we have been lucky.

Annie, how frustrating to have your reading time interrupted. I too, enjoyed Maverick. I was always a fan of Top Gun. We used to have the cassette tape of the soundtrack and would play it when driving long distances. When dh and I would switch drivers, I liked to put on "Danger Zone" when I got behind the wheel. The kids always thought that was pretty funny. dh's signature drive song was "On the Road Again", by Willie Nelson. Gosh, I feel old.

I order a few things on Amazon, but I try not to let dh know. He just gets incensed at buying on line, instead of in a brick and mortar store. But there is less and less available to buy in person, and I'm not using half a tank of gas driving all over to get some $5 item.

I rode my bike to and from breakfast this morning, had to walk up a couple of hills. I'm still rebuilding endurance. I am afraid my heart function has decreased, though. I was trying to garden yesterday, and I definitely feel short of breathe with bending over. I remember Dianah talking about bendopnea in the past, and I think I have that. No plans for today, although the back yard lawn needs cutting...

I was too lazy to get out the wheelbarrow, so carried containers full of the potting/topsoil over to where I needed it -- which involved multiple trips, bending to refill containers, squatting to distribute topsoil.  Doing this, I huffed and puffed a little, but know this and walking are good to keep doing.  I recall one of the Cardiologists I worked with remarking that, even if patients have an EF of 5%, who are listed for heart transplant, they strongly recommend the patient continue a walking program.

Joe, good on ya to continue with the environmental group, and know you are doing good things.  :)  Cool you could cancel the car reservation (cross that cost off your list!), and were not too, too late for the environmental club activity.  I don't think we lost any mail, I think the mailbox lock had attempted tampering, which rendered it un-usable.  We got mail yesterday, yay!

Tweety, hope today goes smoothly!

I have a few errands to do today, nothing really important.  Will also make the rice casserole, and when the puttanesca sauce is gone, will have the casserole to eat.

Have a good day!

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is even snoring sometimes. Supposed to be in the upper 70's again, but I dunno, 'cause I've not been outside yet today. It rained and thundered all night long. Nice to sleep to.

So, the good news is that I somehow got the sound on this 'Bally Sports' channel working so we can hear again! I looked online for trouble-shooting tips, and sort of half-orificed followed the directions, and suddenly the SOUND CAME ON! That's the good news. The 'bad' news is that once again the baseball game is on Rain Delay, so they are re-running the interviews with Dusty Baker (old Braves player) that they re-ran yesterday. I'm so thrilled to have the sound back that I don't care what's on...it keeps Nannie occupied. She is admiring the interviewer's (Fran Healy) good looks, about every 5 minutes she says he "is a really good-looking guy." (hubba-hubba, Nannie!)

The rain has eased off for the moment. I should go to the store, but so far I have convinced myself I can put things off until tomorrow.

Yeah, Tweety, that was a beautiful photo you posted yesterday.

I had some other good news to tell you, but I'll be darned if I didn't, once again, forget what it is, and now I am in limbo. Maybe it'll come back to me later....

j22~ I don't know about kalanchoe, but I CAN say for certain that those are very pretty flowers!

That is beautiful, nursej22!  From what I've read, they flower well with sunshine and regular feeding.  Well, I will try.  I have never been good at plant maintenance.  Must somehow create a schedule somewhere (if not just in my mind) so the poor plantlings get the care in order to produce prodigious blooms!!

Hello No Stars!  Kudos to you for fixing the TV sound!!  And Nannie can be happy with whatever is going on...  Naughty me: "What's for supper?"  ?

dianah, I decided that hubby and Nannie would have chicken pot pies and green peas, and *MY* choice for supper will be a smoked salmon sandwich and (pitted) kalamata olives on pumpernickel bread. They were happy with that, and I'm happy I get to have my own choice, at whatever time it suits me!

Oh ho-ho! I went to the store after all. When I got back I told hubby (who was out in the Ford) that just because I bought a new variety of bandages, that doesn't mean he can fall again. So, about 45 minutes later, we hear this *CRASH!* and I went out to find out what it was......and there were our two [good] across-the-street-neighbors helping hubby up off the ground. I had set two six-packs of Pepsi on top of the trash barrel so I could take them into the house by walking across the front porch to lean over the railing to bring them in later. He decided he would get the six-packs on his way back to the house......And ? he tripped on a large (tall) ant-hill of fire-ants and took the trash barrel down with him. Broke his old glasses (the new ones were ruined the last time he fell and shattered the lenses), and has a good sized cut on the back of his right hand, a blood-blister at his throat (where a trach would go; I don't remember the name of that little divot there), two gouges on his left shin, and another dose of feeling "embarrassed" by falling. I also had to treat all the fire-ant bites that were on his ankles (and on my wrists) with Aquaphor, which helped.

No ballgame today; there will be a double-header tomorrow at 1 PM.

Nannie is trying to talk about something she just saw on TV, and she can barely find a word, never mind any idea about what she was trying to say.

Okay, I am going to watch the show on NBC, honoring Carol Burnett. Used to have a patient who always called her "Carolina Burnadette."

Maybe in a while I will make me my supper sammich.

I used to love indoor house plants and had some for years back in the day.  But only for green non-flowering plants.  If it was a flower, it died.

Joe, I've been hesitant in looking up meet-ups for my interests like vegan eating or volunteering because of my age. I don't want to feel awkward.  My bowling team is all men over 60 now that one of them just turned sixty.

Work again was pretty good today.  I'm working the floor overtime tomorrow.

I think I have shared with this group that I don't have ANY houseplants, due to the presence of our cats.  They are remarkably persistent in attacking/chewing/mauling ANY green-ness.  One example: Bring a pineapple in?  If you don't slice it up right away, behold the leaves will have little chew marks on them.  I rest my case.  So, any plants I have are outdoors, AND they must be rugged little buggars, to survive in spite of my ignoring them. :D :D  This recent spate of gardening, frankly, is surprising to me but let's roll with it while it lasts!

I did my few errands this afternoon; it was good to wander in the craft store, and then wander through Marshall's, and then get a few things at the grocery store.  Dh enjoyed his afternoon online jam.  I just pulled the rice casserole out of the oven, and a chocolate cake is baking in the oven now.  I haven't put away the stand mixer, might use it to make a frosting for the cake.  Later.

I did get a cherry tomato plant and a support cage.  Now to figure out where to plant it!  We love cherry tomatoes.

Have a good evening!

I don't have any houseplants for that reason combined with the fact that the only thing I can keep alive are weeds, no matter how hard I try to kill the darn things. Give me a houseplant and I guarantee you it will be going out to the curb on the next garbage day!
