4600 Summer 5/13

I'm in. Got the email and have a BSN preceptor.

Anyone else in this with me? Did you get your email about the project? I'm trying to secure a mentor by next week.

I got the email as well. I'm in. Only saving grace is it is the last nursing class. I have a topic picked out and am still deciding on a "mentor." The only bad thing is, the mentor that I want to assist me is trying to finish up her own MSN and MBA and she's so busy. My manager only has a BSN but that is allowed, too. Here we go ....

My manager will be my mentor as well. I'm trying to figure out a topic now. Hopefully this will be a fast 5 weeks. I still have one more class (4550) after this one, then I'm DONE!

Do you work in a specialty? Try to Google improvements in patient safety, or nursing informatics, etc. (The QSEN goals). If you work in a specialty like ICU, google ICU improvements in .... I work in the OR and am doing quality improvement -- always a need for quality improvement there! Hope it helped a little.

I work on a cardiology floor - mostly post-pacer, angiogram with intervention patients, and prepping for open heart. I will try googling some things, For some reason when I went to the QSEN goal page it's just not making sense. I think my brain is just completely fried from this program. I'm also slightly frazzled since they sprung this "clinical project" on at the last minute. Such is life! Thank you for your help though, I may run an idea by you after I do some more googling if you don't mind!

Alright am I anywhere near on base here? Few ideas I'm thinking of..

1. lowering readmission rates for CHF patients, improving self care outpatient.

2. Examining why we change IV sites every 3 days? (This is a personal huge pet peeve of mine)

3. Making HPV vaccine part of mandatory vaccines for girls.

I'm concerned I may be thinking too broad or too narrow. once I get the topic nailed I'll be fine I"m just struggling there. Thanks again!

I work in the operating room but I think you're on the right track with all three.

I really don't either. I picked out something for the assignment but it is certainly not something that can be completed in five weeks so I'm not sure what they're looking for.

I am not understanding how to write these KSAs at all ...
