Summer schedule... going crazy!

Published

How difficult would it be to take U.S. history 1 and 2 at the same time?

I keep rearranging my summer schedule and I think I've decided on a 1st session general biology class for the first 4 weeks. Then during my 2nd session, take U.S. history 1 and 2 for the second 4 weeks, along with an online intro to sociology class.

I've already taken both A&P's and Micro and achieved As in all of them. So I don't think biology would be too bad.

After completing this, I would only need Stats, Chemistry, Literature, Speech, Computer Apps and I would be D-O-N-E with my BSN prerequisites!!

Since I'm applying for fall 2014, this would give me 2 semesters to focus on the remaining ones.

In y'all's opinion, is this too much for summer? I love hearing from everyone. :)

I.....I would say yes, that is too much for summer! But then again I work full time too. :) no matter what you do, just do it well. I hope you succeed!

I'm surprised you are allowed to take 1 and 2 at the same time. I would think they build off each other.

But, 2 classes is not too much to take during summer, especially 2 non-science classes.

Two history classes and intro to soc... probably 12 credits. That is 12 hours per week in class if it were a 16 week semester. You are thinking of doing it in a 4 week term. So, think of it as 48 hours in a classroom (it won't be because your soc is online but theoretically the online class will have the equivalent material). Plus study time.

That leaves you with five classes to do over two 16 week semesters. Chem might be more than three credits, even so it is about 15 to 17 credits for two full terms - or about 8 hours in the classroom per week. Plus study time.

Hm. Why do you want to do this?

I rearranged my schedule also. All of my classes are for the first summer session. First I had yoga (univ. requirement), bio, bio lab, & literature II, then I took yoga off because its one less class to worry about, plus its only one credit & I can complete that at any time. I personally wouldn't take history 1 & 2 together just because I know history isn't my strong subject & like the PP said, I would think they built off of each other.

So to answer your question, yes it's too much .. for me.

If you think you can do it go for it! I wouldn't just because I don't want to overwork myself & mess up my GPA .. after all, I'm taking these summer classes to boost my GPA anyways, not mess it up! Let me know how your bio class goes. Good luck!
