4 summer classes

Hey, this will be my first time taking summer classes & I have signed up for

Intro to American Politics

Sociology

Psychology & A University Success Course . All 3 of these are online, with exception to the university success course.

Should I drop some of these classes ? I've heard it's pretty hard to pass 4 classes during the summer. Thanks for the advice !

I'm not sure if 4 classes in the summer will be too difficult so I will not answer that question.

If you drop the university success course you will give yourself more free time for summer and allow an easier course for the fall.

I've been told socio and psych are a bit difficult to take together, but I don't know for sure because I didn't take them together. My friend said the crossover gets confusing. One course deals with the individual and one deals with society. That said, I always say summer session is no joke. :) If you have the drive to stay focused and commit your life to the short 6 weeks, it is totally worth it. I pulled off A's last summer and while it was pretty stressful, it was over with quickly!

Be careful about taking too many courses at once. Nursing programs require stellar GPAs, and overwhelming yourself won't help that. I took 3 courses last summer, two of which were at the same time, and that was a lot of work.

Definitely too much ... Id take 2 classes for summer 1 and 2 classes summer 2 ..

I'm taking a Minimester of stats this summer and it's 2 weeks long, 5 days a week, 3 hours per day. I feel your pain- I'm freaking out!!!

I'm taking Intro to Chem(5 credits) college writing-online (3 credits) psychology (3 credits) and intermediate algebra (4 credits) however .... I am halfway done with the Algebra so that should go quickly. Also I am not working and my child is 19 (also in school) and my husband is very supportive and I have all the time I need for schoolwork.

I do not see it as impossible, as long as you keep up with your reading and are able to retain the information, because all those classes involve a substantial amount of reading. Also you need to be a proficient writer due to having to write numerous papers, especially with those online courses.

I do not know much about the college success class and do not take this wrong way, but at my school they give that class to students who do not score well on the placement test. That being said, I do not know your situation. Good luck on your decision.

Good day Heart2:

My guess is the Intro to American Politics would involve a lot of time. The others should be reasonable time frames for work. What I do to determine how many classes I can take involves asking my fellow classmates in the various classes I'm currently taking, along with checking Facebook groups for the school, how much time they invested in xyz class. Then I can compare that to my estimate of lecture and study time (minimum of two hours per credit hour per week with hardcore sciences being at 3 plus treating the lab as its own 3 credit class).

You are looking at four classes, none of them should have a lab... they are all probably 3 credits (not sure about the success course for credits). BTW, online typically involves more time as one can easily forget to allot lecture time in addition to study time. So if they were 3 credits each... at 12 credits, you should set aside a minimum of 24 hours of study time per week plus 12 hours of lecture time per week. If you can do it plus have room left over for those days where things just take longer, then it is doable.

Thank you.
