Summer 2021 ATL Nurse Residency Programs

Published

Hey,

I just wanted to create a thread so we can share where we are applying and if/when we hear anything back. I applied to WellStar with my first choice being the ATL campus and ED. I plan to apply to Grady and Piedmont when their application opens in the next few months. Any one else start applying?

Hi Congratulations to you! When did you apply to Wellstar and when did they get back to you? I applied December 9th, and I haven’t heard back. My application still says “under review”.

I applied on January 13th & got a call on January 26th, but I am internal so that may be why. I have to submit 5 references though before their hiring event in March so be prepared for that, just in case, if you’re looking into WellStar!

Okay, Great! I hope I hear something soon. I’m waiting on a response from Northside, she emailed me Friday evening, hopefully interviewing starts soon and we all have jobs secured!

Yes, I hope we all have jobs secured soon too! I’ve heard Northside will be starting their interviews at the end of February!

I got an email from a Northside recruiter on Friday asking for my top specialties & locations but haven’t heard back since then. As for Piedmont, I applied for the residency too early and when I reapplied for the correct one this morning, she emailed me back to set up a phone call. I’m external.

Ahh okay! From what I understand with Northside you apply to certain locations and units from the first application, when the recruiter contacts you are they just asking again on units and locations? For example, my roommate applied to the L&D unit at the Atlanta location - so would she potentially be contacted by the recruiter to confirm that is where she wants to be? Sorry, I'm just confused. Thanks in advance

Yeah, I was confused too but I think maybe because I applied to different specialities within Women’s Services (NICU, Mother/Baby, L&D)

I just heard back from Piedmont and I applied today as a external applicant. The recruiter was asking for my availability on when we can speak on the phone! I haven't heard back from Emory or Northside yet. I'm interested in L&D, Mother/baby, and NICU.

Hey,

I applied to Piedmont today after seeing this post, so hopefully I hear back from them soon. I also applied to Northside and WellStar but haven't heard back yet. I'm currently in Florida and none of the residency in my area are hiring new grads for L&D, Mother/baby or NICU.

I heard back from a recruiter Friday, I sent her an email but I haven’t heard anything back just yet.

What Northside location?

Thank you for starting this thread! So far, I’ve applied for CHOA, Northside, Emory, WellStar, & Piedmont! I also got an email from Northside on Friday as well and have heard from WellStar and Piedmont! Good luck to everyone! What units are you all shooting for?

I’m hoping to get into the ED.

I got an email today from the Piedmont recruiter as well.

For those of you who have already spoken to the recruiter on the phone, what type of questions is she asking? Should I prepare for general interview questions or are they going to be more in depth? Or is she really just asking what specific unit I would be interested in? TIA

From previous cohorts it looks like they ask what units you are interested in, relative experience, which hospitals you are interested in, graduation date, possibly if you will have a BSN or ADN, and some super generalized questions. From what I read from older forums they say it's just a phone screening and from there they will schedule an "in person" interview with unit managers and such.  Good luck! I have mine tomorrow!

Thank you! I actually don't know if mine is 2pm est or 2pm pst LOL. I live in California and forgot to state pst. I guess I'll have to be available and right by the phone for both times.

Hey! It’s in EST since they are in the Atlanta! I had mine today, good luck everyone!
