Suffolk Fall 2022 RN program

Published

Hi there everyone! Starting this thread a little early, I just applied today and very anxious. 81.3 on TEAS and 74.75 on rubric. Probably not the highest but hoping it’s enough to get in! Just curious what other peoples stats/ TEAS/ rubric scores are to those who don’t mind sharing! Good luck to everyone applying!! ?

Hey guys! I've been super nervous about my acceptance into the program but I am just happy that I passed the TEAS with over an 80 so that I can get Advanced for the rubric, I know @Jlauren96 said a rubric grade 75+ is usually the starting point for admission. I am 2 points shy of this, so now I'm even more worried LOL. I have a Poli Sci AS Degree so I also applied to Adelphi's BSN program so that I can graduate in 3 years with my BSN. So I'm debating if going to Suffolk is a good idea because I would only be graduating with my AS in Nursing. I hear it is hard to get jobs in New York if you don't have your BSN. Does anyone have any information if this claim is accurate? My end goal is a travel nurse.

@carter.rivers Honestly things are always evolving and changing in the health care field but as of right now with covid times you can definitely get an RN job with an associates. I actually heard from a friend who is in Suffolks nursing program now who is graduating in May that certain hospitals are even taking in people who graduated from the program before they even take their NCLEX. Then again these are very rare times right now and don't know how that will change in 2 years. Otherwise yes usually its really preferred to have a bachelors. I think the rule anyway Is that once you pass your NCLEX and have your associates you need to obtain you bachelors within 10 years. Suffolks program is 2 years for your associates but then has bridge program options for your bachelors where you could have your bachelors in just 3 years total (one additional year) if you choose to go to Farmingdale for their 1 year ASN to BSN program. I hear that SBUs bridge program is 2 years. So essentially you can if you did Farmingdale or perhaps an online program like Chamberlin for your ASN to BSN you can have a BSN in 3 years. Hope this helps!

The wait is so long! Good luck!

I know right, good luck to you as well

Hi guys! I'm currently in Suffolk's nursing program (class of 2021). I came across your forum and just wanted to let you all know that if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help! :)

Hi Nicole what was your stats when you applied? And do you know what they’re really looking like regarding TEAS and everything?

My rubric was in the high 70's and I scored an 83 on the TEAS. It really depends on the applicant pool. In previous years, a rubric score of 75+ and a TEAS score of 78+ would get you in. But if a lot of people are applying with rubric scores close to 80+ and TEAS scores 80+, it makes it that more competitive. You do get an additional 2 points added to your rubric score if you submit your first TEAS attempt which is a nice little bonus. You also don't need to stress about having all of the prerequisites completed prior to applying. I still have to take A&P 2 over the Summer, but obviously the more you have done, the higher your rubric score is. Ammerman is slightly more competitive than Grant, so you all have a good chance of getting into either campus from the stats I've seen some of you post. The important thing is to not get discouraged if you don't get in the first time around. This will only motivate you even more!

Hi there! Suffolk and Stony Brook have a joint nursing program where you can obtain your BSN online after your two years at Suffolk while working as a nurse. There is also chamberlain university which is a 1-year online BSN program. It is a little more expensive but you would be guaranteed your BSN earlier so your chances of obtaining a job in NY are much higher. A family friend graduated from Suffolk's program in May of last year, took her NCLEX over the Summer, passed and finished her BSN online at Chamberlain in October but she has been working ever since she passed her NCLEX. Also, Suffolk's nursing program has a really good reputation as far as NCLEX passing rates!

Thanks so much! I’m still kind of new to the nursing world/medical field so it’s great to hear from someone who been through all the same stuff. ?  I also saw your previous post about rubric and TEAS scores and it made me feel alittle better. At the end of the day it’s all a waiting game, and I just have to keep telling myself all my hardwork will pay off! April is a big month for me as this is when I will hear back from suffolk, and my best friend comes home from the Marines! Let’s just say April can’t come quick enough ? thanks again,

Always believe in yourself! Your grades are not going to define the type of nurse you will become. Best of luck to you, if you have any other questions, I'm here to help in any way that I can! ?
