Suffolk County Community College Spring 2011 GRANT

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello everyone. I just got my 'waitlisted' letter from SCCC today regarding the Grant campus' 2011 Spring Evening Classes for the Nursing Program. I figured we could do with a new thread for this class start date since there wasn't one and people were posting in the old ones...

Grades were:

A&P1 B+ (Retaking it now)

A&P2 A

PSY A- (Retaking it now)

ENG A

GPA ~3.76

Micro: Taking it now

Petrified I won't get in, the rest of the 23 year old life hinges on my getting in. Or applying to other schools.... but still, would rather go here.

Anyone have *ANY* info? Share GPA, application status, etc?

Having scoured these forums before I noticed that a fair hunk of people that get waitlisted (with decent grades) later get in, but because the low class size of Grant Evenings I don't think it'll be the case, plus, I could be 500 on the list...

Hey! I don't know if this is true or not, I personally have never heard about something like this. I would recommend calling/emailing someone within the nursing department. Kathleen Burger is one of the heads of the department, and she is super nice, I would shoot her off an email!

Hope this helps!

yea, they MOST LIKELY will not accept anyone outside of Suffolk County. I suggest for those that do not live in Suffolk County area to find someone that lives in there and use their address for mailing.

I just met somebody who claims to be from Queens. However, that's not to say they did not do the above hijacking of mailing address trick.

THey do accept people not from Suffolk...there are two people currently in my Fundamentals class that drive all the way from Queens for school

I took 4 semesters at Farmingdale and finished every class that I would eventually need to get my nursing degree besides the NUR classes plus a little extra. I applied to Suffolk and Nassau and got into both for fall 2011, I didnt get into Farmingdales. My GPA was a 3.6. I think my transcript showed that I was a well-rounded student that did consistently well. As long as your GPA is in the 3's you have a shot. I'm sure everyone with a 4.0 got first dibs. Good luck to everyone and I hope to see some people in the fall at Suffolk. :D

MReinold- Congrats on your acceptances!!! was your gpa of 3.6 in the four classes for suffolk: AP 1 AP2 psych and Eng? Or is that your overall gpa for everything? Sorry to be so nosy, just curoius and trying to get a feel forgpa cutoff! When did you get your letter?

:yeah::yeah::yeah::lol2::lol2::lol2::yeah::yeah::yeah::lol2::lol2::lol2::yeah::yeah::yeah::lol2::lol2::lol2::yeah::yeah::yeah:

divineintervention- 3.6 was my total GPA and I got my acceptance letter April 30th. AP 1 & 2 I got B's med mic B+ and psych and eng A's and the rest of my classes were mostly A's with a few B+. Soooo I guess you dont need to get an A in AP but I'm sure thats where they start their selection. Good Luck :)

Well congratulations! And thanks for telling me personal info...I am going nuts trying to figure out how they decided and gpa cut off, I make myself crazy I tell ya!

Good luck to you in nursing school :yeah::yeah:

Hello all...I applied to Grant and Ammerman evening RN program last year (2010) with a GPA of 3.675

A&P I-- A

A&P II-- C+ (death in family)

Psych-- A

ENG-- A

and Microbiology B+

I was waitlisted and never called. Retook A&PII and got a "B" which brought my GPA up to 3.8...and was accepted to Grant campus 2011 fall Nursing day program. I was told there are more seats in the day program when I took an intro to nursing program "seminar." Good luck to all and my advice is keep trying and retaking classes to bring your grade up (only allowed 2x, though, so make the 2nd time count!) Hope to see some of you on campus this semester :) :nurse:
