Thank you Runner-I appreciate the response!! I graduate in May on Long Island from nursing school and my goal is to work in pediatrics, but all the hospitals on long island want a bachelors and I will only have my associates and a friend of my suggested looking in North Carolina...so thank you!

Does anyone know if Levine hires associate nurses or only bachelors?

THey do accept people not from Suffolk...there are two people currently in my Fundamentals class that drive all the way from Queens for school

Hey! I don't know if this is true or not, I personally have never heard about something like this. I would recommend calling/emailing someone within the nursing department. Kathleen Burger is one of the heads of the department, and she is super nice, I would shoot her off an email! Hope this helps! Hannah

Hi! I had a 4.0 and got accepted, but I have know of some other kids with 3.8 that didn't get in...so it is really tough!

Hey! :) I got accepted into Spring 2010 Nursing Evening program at Grant. I am super excited and worked really hard the last year and a half to finish all the prereqs. As for what I did to get in...I had all my prereqs finished and I am just taking Micro right now-I have all A's in my prereqs. I also finished all my non-nursing courses for the program, so once I start in January all I have are my nursing courses. And when I submitted my application I also submitted a short personal letter and a letter of recomendation. I know they do not require this and say you don't need it...but I figure it couldn't HURT my chances. When I applied I went in with the idea that every other student had a 4.0 GPA, and I needed to stand out from the crowd, so if a letter of recommendation would help, what the heck! Hey guys! I have heard of people that got "wait listed" and got in, I actually met one this summer (but I believe it was for the day program). I got my letter of acceptance a couple weeks ago, but why I got in and others didn't boggles my mind. I have a 4.0 GPA like many of you, but I haven't finished Micro, I am currently taking it. I don't work in the medical field, I have no medical experience what so ever. So I am not sure why I got in and others didn't. When I turned in my application, I also turned in a short letter from myself and a letter of recommendation. I am aware they say you don't need these things...but I figured it couldn't HURT me. And at this point I knew that almost everyone applying has almost straight A's, so I needed to do a little something extra.

Hi! :) Suffolk Community College is a small program that is extremely competitive to get into, but has one of the best reputations on Long Island, so it is well worth it if you can get into. There are two campuses with Suffolk: Selden and Grant, they both have a day program and an evening program. The evening program is smaller and harder to get into, I am not sure on the prereqs for the day program as I am in the evening program. For the evening program you are required to have Anatomy and PHysiology 1 and 2 finished, Psychology and English (micro is STRONGLY encouraged also). The college says all you really need are the four core classes, but they give preference to those with micro. As I said it is a difficult program to get into, the only guaranteed way to get in is with four A's. It is easier to get into the day program with lower grades, but the night is extremely hard to get into unless you have 4 A's. If you have any other questions I am here!:)

I applied and got into the 2011 Evening program at Grant. I had all "A"s for the prerequisites, and I am currently taking micro right now. Also I have all the nonnursing courses finished (transferred from a previous college). I was told I didn't need anything other than 4 prereqs, but I had heard such horror stories of getting accepted, I also turned in a letter of recommendation and a personal letter. I wish I knew the whole "acceptance" process that Suffolk has, I have heard of students with straight "A"s not getting accepted...so the whole thing is a mystery to me! Does anyone know how many applied and how many got accepted into the evening program? :):)
