Stupid Decision???

Small correction: a BSN is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. You probably don't have that already, but a BS or BA.

That aside: do what works best for you and your family. The accelerated programs, from what I've heard, are quite intense. If that sounds like too much, then don't do it.

You will take the same NCLEX and have many of the same opportunities with an ADN. You will then have opportunities to bridge to a BSN or even MSN. You might also have the added advantage of tuition reimbursement or assistance from an employer.

That's not to say that the ADN program will be "easy" but it might be more workable for you and your family.

This isn't a "one size fits all" situation. Do what fits you best. Good luck!

Don't base your decision on thinking the ADN program is easy. It is still very intense, and will take a good bit of your time. It can be done, and I know many mothers (including mine) that have. It just takes a lot of dedication, and family support.

Both programs will take a lot of time and dedication. I started nursing school in my early 30's and had a young child at home. It was not easy, but I had a husband that was so supportive. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you decide.

I understand how you feel. Based on what info you gave, I would choose the ADN program. That is what I did. I still want to get my BSN but felt ADN was best for my family and myself at the time. I do not regret it either. Also my work has reimbursement for future classes. BSN program here would be more costly than the ADN program.

Don't look down on the ADN--it is rigorous. A few years ago, I was in your shoes. I had a BA, small children and was a SAHM. I chose to do the ADN route. I have now been an RN almost 6 years and have never regretted my decision. I am actually quite glad I did it that way as I think I received excellent nursing training. I am currently almost through with my MSN to hopefully teach nursing at an ADN program. As with everything else in life, it is what you make of it.
