Hi
I'm from Saudi Arabia and applying to study Batchelor of Nursing at university of Southern Queensland in toowoomba (post registration). I'm 23 years old and I'm wondering if it possible to using the overseas license and my work experience in PGICU to get a job here is anyone studying here, or completed their nursing degree at this university? Any information about this would be great.
Thanks

You would have to apply for registration through the Queensland Nursing Council - IF you are only on a visa, If however, you are Immigrating you will have to also be assessed through the Australian nursing and midwifery council (don't ask why:rolleyes: ) This is before you can do anything.

To get your registration with Queensland Nursing Council you need to have 7 academic level at IELTS when you apply. It takes them about 3 months to look into your aplication . Then the Council will ask you to do some courses with a University and a clinical module. The courses are about culture, etics, laws and australian health system and you'll need to write 2-3 essays for each course. The clinical module is 160 hours of supervised practice in a hospital. Each course is 850 aud. When you have your registration with the Nursing Council, you can send an aplication to ANMC and they will give you in 2 days :) the paper you need for immigration.
Thanks gwenith and simona you were very helpful but still i need more information about USQ.Is anyone studying here, or completed their nursing degree at this university?

Hello
I am a nursing student (pre-registration) studying at USQ. I am at the Wide Bay campus not the Toowoomba campus though. I am nearly through my first year, only a beginner i know :)
The facilities that they have for us are great, and the lecuturers all seem to know their field well. Our lectures all come through from Toowoomba so we have the same as they do. I have spoken to people who have transfered from Toowoomba to Wide Bay and they have all said that the facilities that they have there are even better than ours, as it is a much bigger campus.
I was also speaking to the nurses at the Royal Childrens Hospital in brisbane and the general concensus of opinon was that the USQ education was one of the better ones as we are very science based.
Hope this helps, excuse my spelling, have been studying pharmacology too much i think and my brain is starting to melt :rotfl:

I have just completed my degree at USQ (toowoomba campus). All the lecturers there are very helpful. If you nedd more information prehaps you should get in contact with the post graduate coordinator, not sure who that is, have a look on website.
During my degree on different pracs, rural remote and metro, USQ has a very good reputation as producing nursing students and graduates. I have never heard of anyone having trouble with USQ students.
