That is a working holiday visa and is for persons under 30 and it doesn't require a sponsor (employer). For the working visa (long stay bussiness visa) you need a contract, an employer that sponsors you, has nothing to do with your age and your spouse will get the visa in the same time with you. To get a working visa you need to have a full-time contract with an employer, the visa is valid for 4 years but only as long as you have a sponsor (employer). On a working visa you are not eligible for medicare or any other payments from centrelink. To apply for permanent residence you need to have 12 months work experience in your nominated occupation (nursing), so if you come to Australia after you graduate, you will be eligible to apply for permanent residence after 12 months. Whatever visa you choose to apply you can nominate you fiance/husband as a second applicant and he will get the same visa as you.

If I were you I would apply in other state, this is if you want to get your registration before you retire :roll . I think ACT runs the bridging programm for oversease nurses free. Once you are registred in a state you can transfer and work somewhere else.

Maybe it's easier to apply for registration in another state, NSW or Vic and then to transfer to Qld.

A friend of mine went through hell with QNC but she has her registration now. Another friend is waiting for a sign and it's 11 months now since he applied. It's ridiculous what is going on there. If they have so many applications why don't they get more staff to process them?

If LPNs are enrolled nurses she can come with a long business visa (4 years) if she has a sponsor employer. She can't migrate here as an enrolled nurse, only as an RN, but she can get a job and stay here as long as she has a sponsor. For Long Stay Business Visa (sublass 457) there is a list of ocupations that are eligible for this type of visa, one of them is 3411-11 Enrolled nurse. This is a temporary visa not a permanent one, but allowes enrolled nurses from overses to come and work in Australia.

If she is eligible for australian citizenship it doesn't take more than few months to get it. I got my citizenship in 2 months because I was admited to Uni and as a permanent resident I wasn't eligible for HECS but I was eligible for australian citizenship. I explained the situation and got the citizenship in time to apply for HECS . Without australian citizenship you can still come to work here with a working visa, or a long stay bussiness visa but you need an employer to sponsor you.

It took 2.5 months but she got it!

I'm soooo angry :angryfire !!!! my friend is waiting for her registration with QNC and they can't tell her anything. When she sent the application, she was told that it takes 10 working days, but this was 3 weeks ago :uhoh21: , today she was told that it will take at least another 10 days. She has an application with DIMIA for her working visa and they are waiting for the registration to give her the visa. She has a job offer and they are also waiting for the registration , she can't work as a RN if she's only eligible for registration (like other professionals can) she needs that piece of paper. Now her visitor visa expires and she has to go back to Europe and wait there (few days) to get the registration and working visa and then retun to Australia, and this is very expensive .

First you contact de university that delivers that course or program. The nursing board that assessed you documents will recomend you one or more instituitions that run this programs. The university will give you all the details about the program. To apply for a visa you need to be enrolled in the program, so you'll know at that time the duration of the course. I know some details about the program in Queensland but the duration and method of delivery is different in each state.

If the program takes more than 3 months to complete you should apply for student visa, if it takes less than 3 months apply for short bussiness visa. If you come with a student visa you are allowed to work 20 h/week to support yourself, while with short bussiness visa you don't have the right to work.

To get your registration with Queensland Nursing Council you need to have 7 academic level at IELTS when you apply. It takes them about 3 months to look into your aplication . Then the Council will ask you to do some courses with a University and a clinical module. The courses are about culture, etics, laws and australian health system and you'll need to write 2-3 essays for each course. The clinical module is 160 hours of supervised practice in a hospital. Each course is 850 aud. When you have your registration with the Nursing Council, you can send an aplication to ANMC and they will give you in 2 days :) the paper you need for immigration.

There weren't any nursing courses listed in the 2005 QTAC quide at Bond University. If you are interested in other courses the difference between Bond and Griffith (as far as I know) is that Griffith Uni has Commonwealth Supported Places and Bond Uni doesn't.
